Any of you kids like Cool Hand Luke?

Its a great film.

If any of you cats haven't seen it than I suggest instead of going to see Saw16 or whatever number they are up to now check out a real film like Cool Hand Luke.

Naomi Watts is something... won me over with 21 Grams then abolished any doubt with Mulholland Drive. Superb actress I reckon, and gets points for being in I Heart Huckabees as well.

I bought Juno the other day the Tic Tac version.

Watched it for the first time on Sunday, watched it 2 more times since. One of my favourite films already with some quality lines and one of the great characters and performances.

"Yo yo yiggidy yo!"
"I'm a suicide risk."
"Juno?"
"No, it's Morgan Freeman. Do you have any bones that need collecting?"

Juno was pure GOLD!

I enjoyed watching Juno but yes, I thought it was very overhyped and a tad pretentious. Not deserving of any awards, thats for sure.

Just watched 'Black Balloon' - a touching film.

Taken with Liam Neeson is a rad movie. Not usually one for action movies but I enjoyed it.

Frost/Nixon - unbelievable. It's a talk-fest, but if you love American political history, it is riveting.

Frank Langella portrays Nixon beautifully.

I watched Twilight the other day with the better 1/2. It was a shame really, it had the potential to be a good movie. But it came across like a bad independant film. The lead actor was terrible, there was no chemistry, the special effects were a joke. It just came across as rushed, like they writers said "Ok, we need to make the movie while the book is still hot, and hurry about it"
If they had of spent more time on it, and gave it to a decent film company, it could've been awesome. 6/10

The pommy guy (Michael Sheen?) who played Frost (and played Tony Blair in 'The Queen') did a great job, however my age and familiarity (or lack of) with these interviews meant I didn't actually know much about the real life David Frost. I'm much more familiar with Nixon of course from my studies and general interest, so I was super-impressed with that portrayal.

Would be very difficult to play David Frost properly it seems to me, given his very particular voice and mannerisms.

I watched Clint Eastwood's "High Plains Drifter" the other day.

Weird film.

Any other Western fans?

High Plains Drifter is great - really strange film though...

Also, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is the greatest Western of all time...

I saw " Quantum of solace " an action packed movie but it did not have the usual Jamesbond versatileness. Roger moore was flamboyant .

I watched The Mist last night. I read the Steven King short story many years ago and loved it and didn't really know what to expect of the flick. Not sure who has or hasn't seen it so I won't spoil it but any fans of horror flicks should definitely check it out my missus was in tears after the final scene.

I watched Hombre with Paul Newman recently. That is a tidy film.

Also watched Hard Candy.

That is a hard film to watch.

Real crazy. I felt light in the headed from the half way point to the end...

Saw 'Milk' two nights ago. Speechless, it was so beautiful and moving. How good is Sean Penn?

The story of the gay civil rights movement in the US in the 70's, and Harvey Milk's contribution, is a truly inspiring one. Hard to believe people were fighting for base human rights only 30 years ago.

Don't think it even deserved a star. The movies these holidays have been poor, so poor in fact that my favourite has been Madagascar :doubt:

I watched Slumdog Millionaire the other night, pretty good in a tacky, Bollywood kind of way. For a while I thought it was a true story, but turns out it's completely made up. Has broad appeal.

I also caught Revolutionary Road recently, directed by Sam Mendes (the guy who directed American Beauty). A very intense film and one that will a bit more meaningful to those who've been married for at least a few years. Highly recommended, if you don't mind seriously bleak films.

Milk was brilliant.

For those who don't know anything about it, it's about a bloke called Harvey Milk who became the first openly gay man to be voted into major public office in America and the pasisonate way he fought for basic human rights in the midst of such homophobic attitudes around in that time.

The movie is littered with real life footage throughtout and Sean Penn is amazing in it. I have never liked anything I've seen him in before, but his performance in this is ground breaking.

4 stars.
