Re: The Union Thread
Israel Folau’s union contract is terminated. Given the pre season controversies damaging the NRL brand will Greenberg allow him to walk into an NRL club?

Re: The Union Thread
I doubt it. The NRL backed marriage equality and stood up to the backlash. They won't risk the potential brand damage that comes with Folau.

It was that one at the top of the list that caused him the problem. He basically said the entire ARU board would burn in hell.

Re: The Union Thread
I have no drama with people thinking they have a right to freedom of speech and saying whatever the **** they want, just as I have no drama with the ARU tearing said ****'s contract up for carrying on like an absolute ****.
Cause and effect people.
Re: The Union Thread
Yeah they don’t seem to comprehend freedom of speech does not mean said speech is free from consequences.

Re: The Union Thread
That's what I mean, not only is "freedom of speech" not in the Constitution.. (it's freedom of expression as per international treaties) it's not a free ticket to say whatever the **** you like without recourseThe Rickman wrote:I have no drama with people thinking they have a right to freedom of speech and saying whatever the **** they want, just as I have no drama with the ARU tearing said ****'s contract up for carrying on like an absolute ****.

Re: The Union Thread
I wonder if all the people defending Folau's "freedom of speech" would have the same reaction if a Muslim player came out and posted that everyone who doesn't convert to Islam will burn in hell?

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
Re: The Union Thread
Agreed. I saw the second half and it was great to finally see some running rugby. The wallabies really threw it around when the ABs went down to 14. Imagine what it would be like if there were just 13 in a teamT_R wrote:Watched it. Loved it. Great to see running rugby.

Re: The Union Thread
All Blacks played the entire second half one short. Still, a side can only beat whats in front of them and they did. Congrats Wallabies.
Re: The Union Thread
Didn't even know it was happening!
Re: The Union Thread
How did you find yourself in the Rugby thread GE? From a National rivalry point of view, to beat the All Blacks is significant because it is so rare. Not sure if it will happen again in the near future. Any boss who sacked a person late for work after beating the All Blacks is a Bum, to paraphrase a former PM.
Re: The Union Thread
Normal transmission resumes for the Wallabies against the All Blacks in NZ. We were slaughtered.
Re: The Union Thread
I don't watch a lot of rugby (or soccer) but I would normally watch World Cup games. Should have all games on FTA. I'm actually quite interested to see how the Yanks go. They're surprisingly good at 7's and have a tough pool.
