Canberra Raiders skipper Clinton Schifcofske has joined some of the games great point scoring machines, surpassing legendary Balmain goal kicker Keith Barnes to become the tenth greatest point scorer of all time.

Schifcofske (1523pts) is one of only three current NRL players to be ranked amongst the games elite scorers, with the Bulldogs Hazem El Masri (1696pts) ranked seventh on the list while Newcastle skipper Andrew Johns (2084pts) is currently second all time behind Jason Taylor (2107pts).

Some of the games great players appear on the list, with Mick Cronin, Graham Eadie, Eric Simms and Graeme Langlands all included in the top ten, along with noted sharpshooters, Jason Taylor, Daryl Halligan, and Ryan Girdler.

Schifcofske has been in red hot form with boot this season, kicking at a staggering 85 per cent accuracy, with his refined technique making him the most accurate kicker so far in 2006, leading other sharp shooters, Hazem El Mari 83 per cent, Craig Fitzgibbon 84 per cent, and Andrew Johns 81 per cent.

Beginning his career with the South Queensland Crushers in 1996, Schifcofske played two seasons with the now-defunct club before moving to Parramatta in 1998 and eventually Canberra at the beginning of 2001.

Now in his sixth season with the Raiders and his first as Captain, Schifcofske has become an institution in the Lime Green, earning the nickname ‘President Clinton’ along the way from his loyal bunch of supporters.

Schifcofske is honest in his self-appraisal of the record that he now holds, and says it is something that he can look back on at the end of his career with a sense of satisfaction and achievement.

“A lot of blokes say they don’t look at those sorts of things,” Schifcofske said. “But *'s something I have had a look at to be honest and something I am pretty proud of.”

Schifcofske is also rapidly approaching a major milestone for the green machine, as he climbs his way to legendary Raiders point scoring forward David Furner.

After last *'s two tries and four goals Schifcofske has moved to 971 points for the Raiders, and sits second behind *'s record of 1218 points for the green machine.
