We are organising one for Magic Round, but not Round 7. We'd recommend The Lord Alfred, who are hosting the Magic Round event.Ilanraiders wrote: ↑April 14, 2024, 8:43 am Unsure if this is the right thread to ask but is there a Raiders fans catch up in Brisbane before the game next week?

I would only be making 1 change. Starling out, anyone in. I suspect Hoskings will be out and I wouldn’t be surprised if Hoppa comes in for Schiller.

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
I’d be happy for that same team to get a run, except anyone but Starling in the 14. He just offers nothing now and really stunts our whole attack when he comes on, whether at dummy half or first receiver
We have to play a lot better than that if we’re going to be a chance in Brisbane too, this is by far going to be our toughest assignment, especially for the young blokes

Bit optimistic or cruel to name Hoskings’s next game but otherwise I agreeThe Nickman wrote:I’d be happy for that same team to get a run, except anyone but Starling in the 14. He just offers nothing now and really stunts our whole attack when he comes on, whether at dummy half or first receiver

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
Yep, never thought I'd see the day where I'd be yearning for Danny Levi to get back into dummy half, but here we are.
If Starling comes on, it can only be in situations where he's purely focused on dart first. He's a massive handbrake and ruins our cohesion otherwise.

Yeah, every game we’ve looked completely headless once Levi goes off and Starling comes on, it’s just been fortunate that in our other three wins we were comfortably in front by that stageafgtnk wrote:Yep, never thought I'd see the day where I'd be yearning for Danny Levi to get back into dummy half, but here we are.

Remember when we used to do the cumulative stats on our score when Woolford was on vs when Starling was on?
I’d like to see the same numbers generated for Levi vs Starling. I think they’d be pretty troublesome reading

Mariota has been impressive on the edge, I didn't realise he was so versatile, he really is a mini Papa.
Agree that Mariota to start and Sisagi on the bench for Hosking.

Mariota looks really good on the edge, wasn’t it him who put Schiller over for his second try?
Schiller’s earned another run after this week too, there’s just so much excitement almost every time he gets the ball

Bit tough to know without seeing NSW Cup play. If Puru and Woolford played ok then I would get rid of Levi and Starling.
Put money on the Broncos left side winger to score at least a double if Schiller/Hopoate are playing. Either Schiller improves his defence or he goes, I really want a better left centre than Kris to come through as well

I think this coming week we have to split Papali and Tapine. I would have Mooney start with Saulo replacing him at the 20 with Papali replacing Tapine at the 30.
Ata can roam and be added in when we need more punch.

Big test for my OS streak
Going for 13/14. We got a big win over the broncos last year in the same boat, hoping history can repeat itself

Mariota to second row, Sasagi on the bench. I think if Hopoate is ready then unfortunately for Schiller he will drop out. Has been good on attack but his defence is pretty ordinary. I also think Starling can't have a spot when we are playing a top team like the Broncos. Woolford should come in at 14 for this game imo though I'm highly doubtful we will see it. We need good service from dummy half for the full 80 mins.

12. Mariota

The rest of em are trash and we will be destroyed by the Broncos.

Re: 2024 Round 7 v Broncos: Teams and Previews
I think Schiller should hold his spot. He's got a very good try scoring ability- he can finish with speed, he's athletic in the air and tall (becoming more important in the short drop out era in a number of ways too) and he has that bit of creative unexpected spark too. Based on last season, I think we need that in general, especially with Rapa out.
His defence will probably improve. And it's not like Hoppa is a lockdown defender- he's short for kicks and easily skipped outside and burned, but he's much stronger in contact.
The way Xav took on the yards role- 220 run metres without even a linebreak to pad it out (NRL stats) shows he relished the opportunity to step up and take on the yards role too. Schiller also upped his work rate. Hoppa offers yards only and I think the others have shown they can cover that.
Other than that, yep Sisagi on to bench. Personally I'd have Woolf but Ricky will stick with Starling.

For me Hoppa doesn't get back in this team. Schiller has some errors but he is that much more of a threat than Hoppa.
Whitehead must be close to a return , so you would imagine he is in for Hosking.
This is where we need to look at our bench. We can't have Whitehead on for 80min and there must be cover for him. Ata has been doing well out there, you don't really want him out wider though. Id bring Simi back in on the bench. Also Id give Starling a stint in NSW cup. Bring Woolford up.
Saulo and Ata the other 2 bench spots.
