Hosking in, I'd take out Starling and leave Sisagi at 14.

If Horse out, Mooney in
If Rapana out, not a bad time of year to start blooding Stewart
Hosking in
I like the idea of Sasagi on the bench instead of Starling, although I don't know who'd play hooker if Levi gets injured during the game. Probably Fogarty to 9, Kris to 6

I would love to see Chevy make his debut this week. I thought this would be a great week anyway with 4 weeks to the bye. I assume he will get a fine for the attempted trip. I think this is his 2nd fine this year?

I have only been able to watch highlights of reggies, but given what I saw in the trials and RS's conservative approach to bringing kids into firsts I don't think we'll see Chevy if Rapa is out.
Would love to though.

It’s a long season, now is as good a time as any to give Stewart a run if there is even the slightest concern over Rapana’s knee.
I would also suggest Mooney comes in for whichever forward needs a break. Tapine, Horse, Smithies and Ata all looked to cop a knock. Even if they are good enough to play get Mooney in there for a game, he is hungry and needs to be fed.
Starling just can’t pass, I would rather we used the time when the opposition is tired to have Woolford work the ruck for the outside backs rather than Starlings one out runs which can be read from a mile away. His passes from the scrum and anything which requires distance are poor.

If you told me we are 2nd in attack and pretty much 2nd in defence after 5 rounds, I wouldn’t have believed you. And to be honest, we have a lot more we can bring to the table. We can be better.

If the rotation of players to get more minutes in cup is consistent we should see Starling drop back pretty soon
Levi is playing 60 minutes a game, Starlings match fitness will be nowhere if he's needed for a longer stint

I have been critical of Levi, mostly for running at inappropriate times, but he played well. He seems to be getting more selective with when he runs.
Starling is offering nothing. I don't think Woolford offers any game turning dynamism that warrants him being picked over Starling, so I'd like to see Puru get a go in the 14.

Also, this is an important game for us - let’s see whether we get complacent against the team likely to finish at the bottom.

Yeh last night will mean nothing if we don’t back it up this week.
Titans are getting desperate and if we have a hint of complacency we get our pants pulled down. Enjoy the win no doubt but all business this week. That’s the challenge I think Rocky needs to set them this week.

I’d like to see the same team as last night get a run but Woolford in for Starling. I’m really starting to like Danny Levi now, he’s definitely growing on me.
If Rapana is out, time to throw the keys to the Chevy to Stewart.
I suspect Hoppa would come back in for Schiller, but I’d love to see another week of Schiller. He’s a bit suss in defence but offers so much more in attack, and seems to be building a nice partnership with Timoko.
I genuinely can’t see how Whitehead comes back into this team.

Also, how good is it to see some free-flowing attacking movement?
It’s interesting, we’re now suddenly executing these lovely sweeping backline plays, and it’s essentially all players who were here last season, like Levi to Tapine to Fogarty to Rapana to Timoko, even though we were repeatedly told our lack of any form of attack was largely a player-driven issue.
Who would’ve thought coaching might have something to do with attack?

Re: 2024 Round 6 v Titans: Teams and Previews
Complacency has been a big issue for us in previous seasons after a good win OSG. I would like to think that Sticky and Justin Giteau are all over keeping the players heads focused on performing in the next match. After getting out to a big lead against the Sharks we gave them the game on a platter so complacency is still an issue imo.Old School Green wrote: ↑April 8, 2024, 1:21 am Yeh last night will mean nothing if we don’t back it up this week.

It is early in the season, but we have not yet beaten a current Top 8 side. The two we have played in the Warriors and Sharks we have been beaten by. To get the two competition points is vital. Effort on Effort each week is needed. We'll be away with the grandkids next week but I'll hopefully find a pub or club to watch the game at.

Interestingly enough not one try last night, besides the last one was scored inside the 20. They were all long range/ish. I’ve always felt we struggle with plays inside the 20. Needs to be addressed and starts with the 9. Levi looked pretty good last night. Kudos to him.The Nickman wrote: ↑April 8, 2024, 6:26 am Also, how good is it to see some free-flowing attacking movement?

Nah, yeah!
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

It is interesting that we manages to score long range tries. But Ill take it. Lets hope we can also address the inside 20m piece too.Regs Revolution wrote: ↑April 8, 2024, 7:38 amInterestingly enough not one try last night, besides the last one was scored inside the 20. Very frustrating to watch a team that simply has no idea in attack every week. So last night was great! Its refreshing when there is speed.

All hail the new 'Leipana' as Savage and Seb sizzle
If watching Raiders duo Xavier Savage and Seb Kris tear up the left edge on Sunday gave you flashbacks to the Jordan Rapana-Joey Leilua era, then it’s fair to say some off-season homework has paid off. After studying the 2019 'Leipana' highlights reels over the pre-season, Savage went to coach Ricky Stuart with the belief that he and best mate Kris had the potential to bring a similar spark to the Green Machine’s attack.
“In the off-season I was watching a lot of Rapana and Leilua highlights and I started to think to myself a little bit,” Savage said on Sunday. “It’s really exciting seeing the plays that they could pull off. I flicked the idea to 'Sticky' and I’m glad he was on board with it.

Re: 2024 Round 6 v Titans: Teams and Previews
I don't think Seb has been sizzling so far this season. I actually think he has been a bit quiet and tentative.
On TLT, it will be fascinating to see what Ricky decides to do because there are actually quite a lot of selection headaches to deal with.
Does he bring in/retain Ricky favourites such as EW, Starling and Hoppa even though they are either down on form or being outplayed by their replacements?
Does he bring in Chevy for a taste if Rapa is injured? Or does he go with Weekes or back to the tried and failed formula of Kris at the back?
Does he take the opportunity to give Mooney a go and maybe rest Papa or send Hors to NSW cup for minutes?
Does Hosking slot straight back in and if so which forward drops off the bench?
How on earth does Whitehead come back into this side?
Is Starling doing enough to keep a spot on the bench and if not can Woolford or Puru be given a shot?
Were Schillers defensive lapses enough for Ricky to revert back to the conservative picks of Hoppa/Cotric?
So many questions.

Haha I was thinking "early in his career"? The bloke legitimately has a monkey clanging some cymbals inside his head.
Ata Mariota’s #1 fan. Bless his cotton socks.

Anyone who saw it, how did Chevy go yesterday?
Would love to see Starling out of the team. I'm unsure what he offers us. I'd rather see Sasagi stay in the 17 or Puru in to add more versatility.

Canberra Raiders supporter though thick and thin from the very beginning.

Not sure that Woolford is a suitable bench player. He is solid and good at delivering crisp ball to get the forwards rolling forward and defends well but doesn't offer much in terms of a running game and basically every time he kicks its a disaster. Starling at least brings a change in style that might be required in some games where structure isn't working. At his best he has been able to bring that to the team.
Will be interesting to see how the pack pulls up after that game. There were a few players down at different points but that may create the opportunity to bring Mooney into this side.
Home game against a team we should beat comfortably on the back of a strong win..... what could possibly go wrong?
