I have no real interest in visiting Vegas itself (again), but I'm definitely considering a trip when we play. The timing perfectly aligns with the end of the NBA season which is in my plans for a West Coast trip in the next few years.

That was horrendous. Everyone talking at once all trying to be outrageous. It felt so cringy and self appreciating.

I'd need it to be NY to be tempted.
You just go to New York the week before or after. I'll be adding in New York if I go.

I’ve heard multiple times we are locked in next year and we were in the final 6 for this year.

The whole idea of the Viking Clap appeals

But who knows

I wouldn't trust anything I hear from the NRL about it.

Unless of course they confirm we definitely aren't going next season. I'll believe that.

The Seb Kris All-stars selection and suspension fiasco says it all. They are full of ****.

'It should be us next year': Canberra Raiders ready to rumble for Vegas game

Canberra Raiders chief executive Don Furner will submit the club's application to the NRL in the next four weeks to be part of the 2025 season opener in Las Vegas. They are hoping to use the Las Vegas Raiders facilities if they get the green light.

"We were ready to go this year in case one of those four pulled out," Furner said. "And we'll be ready to go in '25. We'll put a good case forward. I think we've got some good synergies with the city and I think it should be us next year."

Furner confirms Raiders lobbying for 2025 Vegas trip

The lobbying to play in next year’s Las Vegas-hosted NRL weekend is well under way, with Canberra adding their names to the growing list of teams keen to get involved.

“It was fantastic, it was way better than I thought it was going to be,” Furner said. “We would love to get there next year. Spent a lot of time lobbying on it … for our sponsors it would be amazing (to get) the coverage of that game. I’ve done a lot of lobbying already and we’ll put a submission in in two weeks.

Broncos, Rabbitohs turn back on USA as other clubs scramble for spots in 2025

Penrith and Melbourne are among the favourites to play in Las Vegas next year, Manly and Sydney Roosters want to return but could be denied, Souths won’t travel back while Brisbane is unlikely to return. Canberra, Penrith and Cronulla have indicated to the NRL that they would be prepared to transfer a home game to America.

“We were down to go this year if one of the four sides dropped out,” said Raiders CEO, Don Furner. “There is an obvious link with the Las Vegas Raiders so we’d love to be a team in 2025 and we’ll be applying.” Asked whether Canberra was prepared to be a home side, Furner said: “Yes.”

I suspect that the Raiders are going to have to pay a penalty under the Canberra Stadium agreement to take this home game away. They can only take two away, and I suspect they've used them up already. Taking games to Wagga never made sense in terms of playing in front of a reduced crowd and at substandard facilities. If they've only used one for Magic Round so far, they won't have one left after Vegas.

It was B grade stuff and he was understandably excited and carrying on, but when asked about criteria to go to Vegas he went into this really cringeworthy joke about brown paper bags and which club can provide the best ones and how he’s not talking about sandwiches in them. Abdo looked genuinely uncomfortable beside him. It was pretty off even if he was joking.
Was Vlandys comment before or after he met with Nick Politis?
It was in that context that he was making the joke. He was talking to Fletcher and saying that they both knew how the brown paper bags work. Not something to joke about I wouldn’t have thought.
I enjoyed it.

Thought it was funny.

Some people can take **** way too seriously. But I thought it was a good way to kick off the season.

Should they keep doing it, maybe maybe not, I am not sure you will get the same push of people going over there in year 4 and 5 but who knows.

Me too Nick. I see the same sad faces losing money at the Tuggeranong Southern Cross Club poker machines as I saw in Vegas.

Like the Vegas version of the Eiffel Tower,
I hear they are going to do a Homeworld Tower equivalent.

Viva Las Vegas: Panthers headed for Sin City with six other teams in race to join premiers

The Panthers have been revealed as the first of the four teams that will open the 2025 NRL season in Las Vegas and there are six teams in the running to join them. The reigning premiers’ plane ticket to Sin City is reportedly set to be rubber stamped by the Australian Rugby League Commission when they meet on Wednesday.

The commission will discuss all the NRL clubs who have expressed interest in heading to Vegas and the chosen four will be unveiled over the next month. The Storm are also frontrunners while the Warriors, Knights, Cowboys, Raiders and Dolphins are also in contention, according to The SMH.

If we get to go, I hope we don't have to play Penrith. We've lost our last 5 games 173-46, for an average of 35-9. That's no good for the game. That's no good for anybody!

Actually I don't mind playing them so early and they will be the home team in Vegas (so we would be the away team and not have to concede a home game). They have started slow in the last two seasons, losing the World Club Challenge and their Round 1 match. Playing in Vegas on a reduced pitch at Allegiant Stadium with short in goals may also be to our advantage.

Whether or not the NRL pairs us up with them (if we are chosen) depends on our form in the first 10-15 rounds. I agree with you the NRL would not like a one sided match like the previous 5 games we have played them.

I went this year and it's a great experience. Highly recommend it to our fans.
