NRL’s Las Vegas games to be broadcast live in USA on Fox Sports 1
The NRL’s historic double header in Las Vegas will be screened live to on prime-time American television in one of the biggest broadcasting coups in the code’s 115-year history. The pay television provider reaches more than 90 million American homes and has broadcasting tentacles in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean – giving the NRL a gargantuan population shopfront of 137 million.
Under the live-broadcast feed, the Souths-Manly game will be screened live to Americans at 6.30pm, followed by the Broncos-Roosters clash at 8.30pm Pacific time. In Australia, Channel 9 will televise the Broncos-Roosters clash, while Fox League will enjoy exclusive rights to the Souths-Manly season opener and screen both Vegas fixtures live.

Re: 2024 NRL Round 1: Teams and Game Day
Just watching NRL Tonight... the captain's runs are tomorrow... and it is hard to believe, but the Rabbitohs have shut out the media! Surely the NRL should be demanding the media has access, at least to the start of it. The Sea Eagles fully open to all sessions.
Had lots of vision of the Fan Fest today... the atmosphere looks sensational. Not sure how much notice any of the locals are taking, however.

Classic Broncos, getting the 8.30pm Friday timeslot in America.
Re: 2024 NRL Round 1: Teams and Game Day
I tell you, I'm going to Vegas if the Raiders ever get the nod.
Re: 2024 NRL Round 1: Teams and Game Day
Ever? From the things I've heard they were pretty close this year
If they do this again next year I'd be shocked if they weren't next cab off

Re: 2024 NRL Round 1: Teams and Game Day
Be prepared to be shocked... This year, a lot of clubs weren't putting their hands up. The Raiders said yes, but it has to be our away game. But as soon as the Rabbitohs put their hands up, it was see ya later Raiders.

Re: 2024 NRL Round 1: Teams and Game Day
I think I'd prefer to do a magic round than Vegas, but I'm hopeful that this US venture is successful. Some long term vision in our game is long overdue. We have a great product and (fingers crossed) some decent administrators finally so there's no reason we can't increase the value and exposure of the game we all love.

Going to Brisbane, as fun as that is (!… and I was born there)… I’m not sure that really competes with going to Vegas and Allegiant Stadium.gerg wrote: ↑March 1, 2024, 10:35 pm I think I'd prefer to do a magic round than Vegas, but I'm hopeful that this US venture is successful. Re: 2024 NRL Round 1: Teams and Game Day
I lived in the US and I think it's a **** hole and Vegas doesn't overly appeal to me. I'm the first to admit I have a slightly negative personality and i see a lot of bad things where many others would look straight past it. Every city in the US has very large ghetto areas, and Vegas is no different.greeneyed wrote:Going to Brisbane, as fun as that is (!… and I was born there)… I’m not sure that really competes with going to Vegas and Allegiant Stadium.gerg wrote: ↑March 1, 2024, 10:35 pm I think I'd prefer to do a magic round than Vegas, but I'm hopeful that this US venture is successful. If I went to magic round I think I'd really enjoy watching every game live.

Re: 2024 NRL Round 1: Teams and Game Day
True. Just like the Raiders I start the year slowly because I don't prepare well enough. My next opportunity for magic round might be 2026. I've already locked in my holidays for this year and next year I don't think we'll come back to Oz.The Nickman wrote:Well that’s what the pre-season and early rounds are for, m8gerg wrote:I probably can't go back to back these days. 2024 NRL Round 1: Teams and Game Day
Actually, I’m now at the age where none of the nights I end up at the Treasury now.-TW- wrote:How many of those nights do you end up at the Treasury? The Nickman wrote:Magic Round is great, gerg! How come you’ve never gone?

Interestingly though, in a bizarre twist of fate, we seem to end up at the Treasury at 8am Saturday and Sunday morning instead.

I can’t say I’ve been this excited about seeing the NRL season opener in a long, long time. Maybe in 1990 I was more excited. Nah, definitely more excited in 1990. But, this build up in Vegas has just been outstanding. If the Raiders make it next year, the super account is being raided.

100% agree.greeneyed wrote:I can’t say I’ve been this excited about seeing the NRL season opener in a long, long time. Maybe in 1990 I was more excited. Nah, definitely more excited in 1990. But, this build up in Vegas has just been outstanding.
They have done an awesome job getting the NRL front and centre for the week/s leading up to kick off. I love that there is an opening to the season to get excited about and enjoy rather than a few snaps of the captains and the trophy in Sydney Harbour.
I also really rate the idea of a Round 0 and think it’s something they could really build on in the years to come. Does not always have to be Las Vegas but what a great spot to start.
Another cool aspect of round zero is just 2 days after is the first full team list of the year and then into the games 2 days after that. Should really continue to engage the fans and media.
I have not always been a fan of PVL and some of his decisions but credit where credit is due, he has made some bold moves and they have paid off, I say it’s time to keep the foot on the accelerator and continue expansion (raid the crap out of ARU), team in Perth, PNG and second NZ side. Also love the chat about expanding into the UK (god knows they need it) and into the US.

Re: Rugby League 2024
Pretty excited about watching the games on Vegas.
This could go on to be a pretty good event like Magic round

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Game Day. Round zero.
Pretty pumped for actually competition. Over 45000 is expected today. It should be good, good base to start from.

I’m excited. Going to have a day of Monaro Colts going on NSWRL TV, while watching the Vegas games from noon. Sam Williams leading the Colts at 3:20pm.

Made me think.
GH members I'd love to go to a Vegas round; TR and GE. Travel in style, sit at the table with the high flyers and have protection from TRs Japanese Mafia
GH members to avoid going to Vegas? Nickman and PJ. The while thing would be forgotten in a bourbon soaked haze and we'd somehow end up with some Vegas wives

Re: 2024 NRL Round 1: Teams and Game Day
What’s this “round zero” reference? Do these games not count or something?
Ata Mariota’s #1 fan. Bless his cotton socks.
Re: 2024 NRL Round 1: Teams and Game Day
It’s part of Round 1. But these two games are being referred to as Round 0, as it’s the first weekend, with other games to come on the second weekend.
