The Canberra Raiders have named their squad for their second match of the Pre-Season Challenge against the North Queensland Cowboys on Sunday at Seiffert Oval.

The Raiders have named a strong side, with several regular first grade players returning for the final trial match before the season starts.

Morgan Smithies and Zac Hosking will play their first match for the Raiders, while Matt Timoko, Trey Mooney and Hohepa Puru have also been named after playing in the NRL All Stars match last weekend.

Seems like these really are “trials” with so many players still not playing. Very interested to see the actual round 1 team.

Actually, its probably cause Ricky is going to play Raps at FB, and doesn't want to risk him in a trial. I wouldn't be surprised if Chevy comes on later - he only made 50 minutes last week before cramping up - so some match fitness needed there.
More interesting is Xavier at Wing for the second time.

Some of these players have zero chance of first grade this year or frankly any year unless something is badly wrong. Run a NSW cup trial if you want to give them match fitness like any normal club does.
