When will they be announced?
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

I think the Panthers will win because they are minor premiers for a good reason, they consistently outperform all other NRL sides. The World Club Challenge loss to St Helens gave them an early wake up call that they were not invincible without hard work and that they need Dylan Edwards at fullback. I don't think I've see a side which maintains the tempo of the Panthers, they are fit for 80minutes going flat out. Their Strength and Power coach Corey Bocking is an unsung contributor. He tends to only stay 2 years on any appointment and his 2 years with the Panthers finishes at the end of this year. Worth an enquiry DFJ.

Neither side has a creative 9. They both give good service to their forwards, tackle well and support well. I don't recall either of them being regularly creative with their kicking game so far this season. The best hooker in the game, Harry Grant, will be watching on with the rest of us.

Simaima Taufa confident 'all the hard work will pay off' as Canberra Raiders plot NRLW redemption

The two teams that effectively dashed Canberra's premiership hopes in the final three weeks of the regular season will meet in Sunday's grand final between reigning premiers Newcastle and the Gold Coast.

"Grand finals are rare to come by and it's really hard to get there," Raiders captain Simaima Taufa said. "It's those games you work hard during the whole pre-season to get to. I know we'll be working hard to get there. For every team that missed out, that's always the end goal, to get that premiership. All the hard work will pay off."

Why making three-peat is so hard to do

The man known affectionately as "The Brick With Eyes" was part of the last team to have the chance to turn three consecutive grand finals into a hat-trick of premierships - the 1991 Raiders.

"Playing '89 for the Raiders was a lot easier than playing '90 because you become the benchmark and every week you've got to play well to beat your opposition," he said. "So winning back-to-back premierships is very hard thing to do, but to win three [is on another level].

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

It irks me the AFL can have a daytime GF but we can't.

And KISS are absolutely going off!
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Walters responds after Walsh’s ugly ‘mum’ sledge as star involved in incident with Penrith fan: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-pr ... 2533e83f54

What the Penrith fan said was poor, but NRL players have to be above all that. Unacceptable from Walsh, completely. Then there’s the enabling from the coach…

Welcome to our coverage of today's Grand Final. First the State Championship. The Queensland Cup champions versus the NSW Cup champions. The mighty Brisbane Tigers take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The Tigers are out on the field now, sadly a largely empty stadium. Now the Rabbitohs. The temperature has hit the forecast maximum of 34C.

The Tigers kick off, and the Rabbitohs knock on!

11th min TRY RABBITOHS to winger Tyrone Munro, takes the kick to the corner, getting over the top of Max Lehman. The Tigers have had the better of the play in the opening 10 minutes, but the kick produces points. No conversion, hits the post.

Rabbitohs 4-0

Now the Rabbitohs fail to stop the ball from going dead from the kick off.

19th min TRY RABBITOHS to winger Tom Carr. They run it and shift left on the last tackle. It was the result of a seven tackle set, with a Pezet kick to the try line defused in the in goal.

Rabbitohs 8-0
