Canberra Raiders sign young Gold Coast back Izayah Petricevich

Izayah Petricevich, Gold Coast outside back, signed on a three year deal to end 2026.

Marsden High Langer Cup, Burleigh Bears Mal Meninga Cup this year, on Gold Coast Titans books, also a basketball player.

“Winger Izayah can reach top gear quickly, and sustain that speed. And Marsden also has a bolter when it comes to pace. “Will Semu when he is on. He can move,’’ said Marsden SHS coach Matt Hartigan.

Junior players on Titans books:

“The quicksilver Izayah Petricevich will be that much older and wiser during the 2023 Langer Trophy school season with Marsden SHS after gaining valuable experience playing with Coombabah SHS in last season’s competition.”

Never seen him play but googled him. His speed was mentioned heaps. Hopefully he plays plenty of NRL in the future.

Sounds interesting! Good to see the club continue their focus on young talent.

The surname is a beauty. Hopefully we can get the correct pronunciation up front so he doesn't do a Papalii, Cotric or Harawira-Naera on us.

Yes, that is true. I know we'll have Ricky Stuart at the helm but it does make me think about coaches who have a reputation of bringing together and developing young players. It's a very tough gig. Almost none succeed at NRL level.

Ivan Cleary stands out, but he has the benefit of an immense junior nursery. Who else has done a good job with a young squad? Fitzgibbon? Anthony Griffin was meant to be, but he got sacked twice. Holbrook, who I think is actually a good coach? John Morris? Brad Arthur? Both of those guys have done something with younger players.
