44th min TRY NSW CHS to Nikora Williams in the corner. Huge break from Pasifiki Tonga from the kick off and somehow the ACT foil the try. But they were ruled to have knocked on, rather than NSW when the play broke down.

Too many errors and penalties conceded, too many offloads conceded as well. NSW had a much bigger forward pack. Bad luck, the ACT did well getting a win against NSW CIS.

Blake Hovi the ACT man of the match. Xavier Cacciotti was man of the match in Monday’s game.

I know there is a slightly different school finishing age in Qld, but one does have to ask, how does NSW have 4 teams in this comp (including ACT which is under NSW for origin), including the top 2, and Qld one who didn’t make the final, but yet Qld continues to dominate Origin?

Queensland end ASSRL in style

Queensland’s magic man Mutua Brown enhanced his growing reputation with a scintillating try in the young Maroons’ win over ACT 46-4. The Cathedral College fullback followed a break from fellow North Queensland Cowboys signing, Jaxon Purdue, to explode down the middle of the field. His swerving 30m run burnt off ACT’s cover defence and handed Queensland an 18-4 halftime lead. It was a golden moment in the game.

ACT were no pushovers, and for a long period of the first half trailed just 6-4. Lekani Mpaso was the try scorer for the ACT in the seventh minute. Mpaso was the ACT's man of the match.

Overall, a pretty good showing from the ACT - and which really reflects very favourably on what the Raiders are doing with their junior programs. It must be while since the ACT won game one and played a semi final. They were a bit unlucky at times against NSW CHS - and they looked competitive. The thing with this tournament is that is effectively a knock out. If you slip up in one game you're gone. The ACT came in as fifth seed in this tournament and will go in as fourth next time round.

NSW Combined Catholic Colleges won the final 40-10 against NSW CHS. Strong performance from NSW CCC, as they had to beat Queensland first up, who were the reigning champions.

Top 50 schoolboy rugby league players: ASSRL Nationals cause huge rankings changes

There is an all new No. 1 with Rockhampton-based and Cowboys-contracted Matua Brown taking top spot following brilliant championships. Matua was ranked eighth heading into the weekend. There’s also a new No. 2 in Lachlan Galvin of Westfields Sports High School in Sydney.

The best schoolboy rugby league players in Australia descended on Redcliffe this weekend for the ASSRL National Championships. Prior to the championships, we ranked the top 50 players. But with the titles now run and won, we’ve revisited the rankings and made significant changes.

47. Jonah Anderson
State: ACT
Position: Halfback
Affiliation: Canberra Raiders
School: Erindale College, Wanniassa
Anderson was named players player for the Raiders’ Harold Matthews team and is highly rated for his skill and leadership. Was one of the ACT’s best in their upset win over NSWCIS on day two at Redcliffe.

45. Mark Tuialii
State: ACT
Position: Centre
Affiliation: Canberra Raiders
School: Erindale College, Wanniassa
A powerful centre who enhanced his reputation in a competitive ACT side.

16. Xavier Cacciotti
State: ACT
Position: Hooker
Affiliation: Canberra Raiders
School: Erindale College, Wanniassa
The was a try-scoring machine in the Laurie Daley Cup for the Monaro Colts this season, scoring tries at a rate of knots and earned Australian schoolboys selection. Played Raiders’ SG Ball side this year.
