AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders Jersey Flegg team has now notched up four wins in a row - defeating the Newcastle Knights, 28-20, at Kippax on Sunday. The Raiders have moved up into 10th place on the ladder - and are only two competition points away from the fifth placed Melbourne Storm, with four rounds remaining.

The match was played on a beautiful Canberra winter's day, blue skies and 17 degrees, perfect weather for football. The Knights dominated the possession and territory in the opening 20 minutes. They produced early tries to winger Luke Pietzner and fullback Fletcher Sharpe, taking a 10-0 lead after 15 minutes. But finally, the Raiders got some ball at the other end - with centre Prinston Esera crossing out wide in the 26th minute. The Green Machine trailed 10-6 at the break.



The Knights went further ahead two minutes into the second half, with winger Jahoiyakim Afoa scoring in the corner. But the momentum swiftly and unexpectedly swung to the Raiders. Prinston Esera got his second try in the 43rd minute and that was the start of something. Josh Billing crossed only three minutes later, from a Noah Ryan kick that the Knights could not defuse. Esera completed a hat trick in the 49th minute and suddenly the Raiders led 22-14.

The Raiders invited the Knights back into the contest with 15 minutes remaining, an error at their own end giving Knights captain and second rower Brock Greacen the opportunity to snatch one back. But a great break up the middle from Toby Thorburn in the 64th minute, set up a try for hooker Shaun Packer under the posts. It was the match sealer. Final score, Raiders 28 - Knights 20.

In Round 23, the Raiders host the ninth placed Wests Tigers at Kippax - and if Canberra can keep on winning, who knows what might happen. Canberra beat the Tigers at Leichhardt, 18-8, only a couple of weeks ago. The Tigers are coming off a 56-14 win over the Rabbitohs at Lidcombe - a 10 tries to three victory. Winger Jay Kirk got a hat trick and hooker Tallyn Da Silva a double.

Team news: Jaxon Lavender replaces Jacob Piper in the second row, with Piper dropping to the bench. Hooker Owen Pattie comes in on the bench, with Shaun Packer promoted to NSW Cup. Tate Rhea drops to 18th man.
