Apparently Horsburgh lost so much weight during his illness, he still hasn’t recovered.

I, like many others, argued that the coach should bring in the young player with huge potential and giving him a decent shot in first grade. It is what the club now has to do, and do more of. Credit to the coach in my view.

If Seiff was a coach he'd be conservative and defensive. Likes kicking to the corners and keeping error count low. From that perspective I can understand his position. Of course I wildly disagree with it. I think Savage has done really well since coming into the team. We wouldn't have scored Kris's try or the try on the right hand side v Melbourne w/o him. I've really enjoyed watching him play and when CNK was in the side we were getting nowhere. It seems ages ago that we started with CNK and Semi in the side. He gives another focal point in attack and takes pressure of the halves. He can improve on ball handling and defence but is only a young player.
We can also make half or full breaks from kick returns now.

Canberra Raiders co-captain Elliott Whitehead would back an NRL pride round
Canberra Raiders co-captain Elliott Whitehead would be "all for" a pride round if the NRL introduced one.
"I have no problem with doing that. I'd be all for it and I'm sure a majority of our team would as well," he said. "That [drama's] nothing to with our club at the moment, that's somewhere else, but if that comes out of that then I'm sure the club will go in the right direction."

Canberra Raiders look to get in Gold Coast Titans' Tino Fa'asuamaleaui's face
It's a battle of the two biggest boppers in the NRL - the Canberra Raiders' Joe Tapine and his Gold Coast counterpart Tino Fa'asuamaleaui.
""That'll be a good match-up, big Tino and Taps going at it. I'll have front-row seats in watching that, it'll be good. It's a group effort there - you can't take him one-on-one. We'll probably try to get into his face early so he doesn't get a roll on," Tom Starling said of the Titans captain.

Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
Whether savage is our long term fullback or a long term nrl football remains very much to be seen, but I know one thing is for sure, we’re a much better football team with him in the side over CNK. I feel confident in saying 90% of fans are instantly more excited when the ball is in his hands.
Imagine being so stubborn as to death ride a 15 game rookie and deprive yourself from being able to enjoy the excitement a talent like him can give a fan. Couldn’t be me.
I feel sorry for those sad sack losers.

There's a lot of reasons our attack has changed, Savage is one of them. Time will tell if he continues to improve.
As CM pointed out, my focus is on getting the fundamentals right, although given the strengths of our squad I'm a huge advocate of second phase play and early shifts to the centres. Wighton should also be bombing a lot more, rather than grubbers that go 10 metres too long. But I digress...
Savage is clearly a work in progress. He's learning on the job. I've just taken the attitude that this is a season of transition, so we are going to see a lot of rocks in amongst a few diamonds.
Like I say though, Woolford won't get a great deal of plaudits for his flashy play, but my goodness he's made a huge difference to our attack.

On his tackling, he did a good gamesaver on Jahrome Hughes, admittedly not a 1-on-1 which is where he can struggle. But still, shows promise.
On his handling, he leaps well and seems to be good in the air. He loses the ball in contact which I think is likely to improve with technique (he often holds the ball in one hand), and as he bulks up

That's true, comparing Savage/Kris to CNK/Valemei, it feels much better now, and dare I say more in the Raiders DNA of speed over bulkHong Kong Raider wrote: ↑July 27, 2022, 6:14 pm I think Savage has done really well since coming into the team.
