He's 30 years old with 3 years left on his contract with the Sharks.
Pretty sure he's feeling reasonably comfortable with how much longer he has in the game.

Cordner and Friend were a similar age and retired earlier than they wanted to. Wade Graham and Luke Keary on the same path. If his head’s getting (supposedly) whacked every game he won’t see out that remaining 3 years at that rate.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑July 26, 2022, 1:36 pm He's 30 years old with 3 years left on his contract with the Sharks.

Yep. No attempt to make a proper tackle and that resulted with head-on-head contact which he is to blame for. It's clearly Dale's fault and he should be banned for a couple of games for that. The bloke lost half his ear!Seiffert82 wrote: ↑July 26, 2022, 11:27 amOk, maybe he didn't lead with the head like Viliasanti, but he was entirely upright when he made contact. There is no surprise that their heads clashed given the style of tackle.Finchy wrote:Finucane didn’t “lead with his head” at all. It’s not like Richard Vilisanti recklessly using his head like a battering ram to head butt Fittler in the 2002 GF.
Finucane just ran in hard to put on a big hit, completely missed him with his arms, accidentally clashed heads.
If he doesn’t get acquitted at the judiciary it will be the biggest farce.
Finucane obviously tried to put a big hit on. It was a careless attempt which resulted in a serious head injury to the other player. Not sure how that is any different to carelessly hitting a player in the head with your shoulder.

Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
One thing the second half on the weekend should have shown everyone is that it is not enough to merely not be a liability, you actually have to be a threat with the ball in hand.
The very best teams have threats all over the park to keep the opposition guessing, and exhausted.
CHN provides that threat, even if he isn’t perfect in defence.
Unfortunately Whitehead is a combination of being a non-threat AND a liability, which is why he looks so terrible at the moment.
If we are to do anything of note this year, CHN has to be a significant part of the story.

I know Whitehead has not been fantastic in recent weeks (year) however I wonder what impact the virus that had him miss a game had on him this week, he did look a bit gaunt and underdone in a few photos / videos leading up to the game:benda wrote:At least we all know Stuart is loyal.PerthRaider86 wrote: ↑July 26, 2022, 5:59 pm How does Whitehead keep his spot. Canberra Raiders look for fast start in Gold Coast Titans danger game
The Canberra Raiders are working on starting fast to avoid playing catch-up against the Gold Coast Titans.
"We want to fly into training sessions as if it's the start of games so it becomes habit and second nature," Corey Harawira-Naera said. "Because we've won two in a row we're expected to beat [the Titans] and they're the sort of danger games we find ourselves not starting the way we want to.

We'd all have more time for that possibility if Whitehead hadn't been just as anonymous in every (?) other game this season, or near enough to it.Rick wrote: ↑July 26, 2022, 7:08 pmI know Whitehead has not been fantastic in recent weeks (year) however I wonder what impact the virus that had him miss a game had on him this week, he did look a bit gaunt and underdone in a few photos / videos leading up to the game:benda wrote:At least we all know Stuart is loyal.PerthRaider86 wrote: ↑July 26, 2022, 5:59 pm How does Whitehead keep his spot. He'll be here for the season because that's how it will be under Ricky but I was hoping the bye week or the other one or two rounds he'd missed this year on top of that would freshen him up- but after the first 4-5 rounds of the comp which were ok- it's dropped off a cliff really.

Absolutely crazy that Whitehead is still there... Also surprised Hopoate is there over Schiller. Hopate did good, but Schiller was exceptional the week before and is apparently healed up.
Anyone else worried that Valemei was put in the reserves suddenly? He hasn't been in there recently.... I guess maybe that shows Schiller isn't healed up enough?

Schiller not selected in any team, Valemei selected in NSW Cup. Suggests Valemei won’t go to the Gold Coast.Ultima wrote: ↑July 26, 2022, 8:33 pm Absolutely crazy that Whitehead is still there... Apparently Horsburgh lost so much weight during his illness, he still hasn’t recovered.

Not a great deal is being said about Fogarty's return to the Gold Coast - probably because his form is only slowly returning - however I feel the need to say that the culture of the Titans appears to have plummeted since he left the club.
That team is a dead set shambles at the moment. There is always a risk that the Raiders go into the game with a terrible attitude and get hijacked, but the Titans are seriously a flaming pile of **** at the moment, with next to no leadership.
Meanwhile, it's nice to see Fog hit a bit of form.

Glad to see Hoppa retain his spot, he looked very comfortable out there the other day.
Re: 2022 Rd 20 V Titans: Teams and Previews
Yep, one of his main problems was his lack of ball playing ability, savage has already developed a much better set of hands and quick hands, charnze really didn’t have a whole lot of upside and sadly I think 2019 charnze is the best charnze you can get.Shiv wrote: ↑July 25, 2022, 11:38 pm responding to an earlier comment re CNK. I watched him play on the weekend, and I have to admit I was very happy he wasn't playing first grade. He did not play well - certainly not up to his usual standards defensively. And in attack, by heaven does he die with the ball a lot. I really do wish him the best of luck, but going forward he is not the fullback we need.

Bit worried that they are putting so much emphasis on starting the game...I'd much rather we **** the bed early than later, at least we still won last week.
Or better yet, maybe focus on playing for 80mins for once this season?

Yeah, I have to agree that if we're going to have one bad half and one good one, it's entirely more preferable to come home strong than **** the bed at the end.

Before those few games Wighton missed, I commented how it was a real opportunity for our backline (in particular) to get more involved in attack, without a singular focus at 5/8. At the time Schneider was starting to struggle, so that didn't help us either. We are not a better team without Wighton, but we were forced to play better team football without him.President Clinton wrote:Strangely we are 2-3 with Fogarty and Wighton as our halves and 2-0 with Fogarty and Frawley as our halves.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑July 26, 2022, 10:03 pm Not a great deal is being said about Fogarty's return to the Gold Coast - probably because his form is only slowly returning - however I feel the need to say that the culture of the Titans appears to have plummeted since he left the club.

4-3 overall with Fogarty in the side.
Moving forward, it will obviously be hugely important that Fogarty can take the pressure off Jack in generating opportunities on the right hand side. It's hard with Whitehead being a passenger, but Fog looked good with CHN actively looking for the ball.
However, the difference for me has been the introduction of Woolford. By far.
Starling was our primary dummy half when we started the season 2-6. In round 9 we won with Adam Elliott at 9, and since then Woolford has started hooker. We are 7-3 since Starling was relegated to the bench. It's obviously not the only change in the team, but I can't overstate how important it has been for our forwards and halves to get good, consistent service out of dummy half.
Now we just need to get Wighton and Savage to reduce their unforced errors from 6 a game, to maybe 2 or 3.

I'm sure many have seen the introduction of Savage as being a big factor in our turnaround. I can appreciate that, but at this stage he subtracts as much as he adds to our performances. The two halves of the Warriors game couldn't provide a more stark example.
Not death riding the kid. Just pointing out the bleedingly obvious.
