Canberra Raiders extend Ricky Stuart's contract to end 2025
Ricky Stuart will be the first man to jump off the NRL coaching merry-go-round after agreeing to a contract extension at Canberra until at least the end of 2025.
Stuart has made it clear he will not coach against the Raiders at any point in the future. He has now backed that up by agreeing to a new deal that will keep him at the club for a further two seasons beyond his current deal which was set to expire at the end of 2023. An official announcement of Stuart’s coaching extension is expected within the next week.

Meh, most knew this was coming. It was either going to be announced during the off-season or after a win or two.

Well that puts to bed the whole "where is he going in 2025" rumour mill.
Good to have that locked in so early! Haha.

Re: Canberra Raiders extend Ricky Stuart's contract to end 2025
Sigh. Said he was never going to coach against us, we are 10th place, 10th place 4 times he has coached us, what was the urgency to extend by another two years?
Extension was probably signed after the Warriors loss but now announced by the club after the Melbourne win.
Given that it's already done, we now just have to hope we fluke another 2019 season in the next 3 years.

Hodgson to return to Canberra in 2024 after playing 12 months at Parramatta.
Assumes assistant coaching role.
Takes over head coaching role in 2026.
Stuart moves into Football CEO position.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

There were some posters (wait, I think forum customs dictate I have to declare “everyone” in the classic Roger move) telling me he was surely under pressure and speculating about who should replace him!

It’s expected, but completely unnecessary at this point in time. Not on the market, stated he wouldn’t go anywhere else, and already contracted next year.
Any professional outfit would wait to see where we end up in 2022, how we recruit for 2023, and how we start next year before committing.

I’d love to see what date the extension was signed!Botman on 3rd July wrote: ↑July 3, 2022, 8:25 pm
I reckon there is a 50/50 chance right now Stuart's already inked the extension. Hear me now, they're running the same play book!

Bot's just being nice by saving a bit of face for me. But I was approaching it from the perspective of a well run corporate organisation, and how they would view 4 10th place finishes, a recent 10th place finish, currently being out of the top 8 (and most of the time top 10), and the trajectory of the football team.Botman wrote: ↑July 19, 2022, 4:51 pmThere were some posters (wait, I think forum customs dictate I have to declare “everyone” in the classic Roger move) telling me he was surely under pressure and speculating about who should replace him!

Re: Canberra Raiders extend Ricky Stuart's contract to end 2025
need a freshen up in the assistant space then.
I'd like to see Ennis re-contracted and possibly someone like John Cartwright or Trent Barrett, hard to tell what Carbone is doing at NSW cup level and I'm ok to let McFadden go.
What we desperately are lacking is someone to bring our gun juniors to 1st grade readiness, hopefully Hickman and a new assistant can do that.
