I reckon I’m as keen to watch this u19’s game as I am the actual origin

Love that they’ve started doing this.

The womens game is at a very pesky time for me. Right in the bath-dinner-book-bed time period so I’m probably only going to catch the last 20-30 of that game

Yes, there'll be lots of interest in the men's game for Raiders fans, in particular. I think it is a shame that we seem to have lost the Under 21s and Under 17s versions though (we had 20s, 18s and 16s before COVID, played as warm ups for the three main Origin games).

Tane Kiriona 19th man for QLD if the updated 'draw' is correct. Would have been in the team if Howarth (overage) wasn't selected.

NSW has the U16/U18 City/Country that isn't fair to Country and QLD has U17 City/Country concept that works

That's a shame, would have liked to see him play in the game. Have updated the team lists in the original post.

He's one of the two marquee players allowed, provided they qualify for the under 20s age group.

Presumably Xavier Savage could have been a marquee player for Qld in the same way as Mooney. Glad he is not, we don't need him doing things he can do in juniors, we need him playing against men where things like one handed carries get you smashed into next week.

State of Origin U19s: Blues teen stars to watch in Origin battle at Leichhardt

NSW Under 19 teams will take on Queensland’s best at Leichhardt Oval on Thursday.

Trey Mooney has long been on the radar of the experts as a rising star of the game. Young lock Mooney is now with the Canberra Raiders and has plenty of experience playing for NSW in both under 16 and under 18 teams in the past. He is an exciting player to keep an eye on.

A rising star for the Canberra, Michael Asomua was part of an SG Ball grand final win last season and made his debut for the Raiders in the NSW Cup. That was all while the young winger was doing his HSC. He has already played a couple of NSW Cup games, indicating he is a leading light for the future.

Canberra Raiders forward Trey Mooney brings NRL experience to NSW Blues in Under 19s State of Origin

Trey Mooney will be the only player on the field with NRL experience in Thursday night's Under 19s Origin, as well as the oldest in the NSW Blues.

"It's definitely a new experience for me ... being the oldest in the team is a bit foreign to me," Mooney said. "The reason why I find it exciting, being one of the older players .... I come in and share my knowledge and what I have to offer."

Great try from Jada Taylor. She got to about 30m to go, had nothing left but suddenly saw the girl behind had even less.

The Qld structure has really fallen away under fatigue. No defensive line at all.

The two teams in the final stages of preparation, here come the Maroons, they're first out onto Leichhardt Oval in the Men's Under 19s Origin. It is a very disappointing crowd. Now here come the Blues, led by Trey Mooney.

Maroons kick off, we are underway.

Asomua with another banger take, like the look of that kid, got the right body type to be an NRL winger
