I'm more than happy to allow a lineball decision in favour of the attacking team, if indeed that's the rule, that you're allowed to receive the ball on the inside shoulder as long as you also pass before you run behind

Defender committed and the lead runner didnt even impact the defender. Defender came in on the lead runner, body checked and was uninhibited to move to his next target. He couldnt get there in time because he came in on the lead runner.

We cant be taking those ones away.

Agree it should be a try not a shepherd.

But I’m not confident that version of that interpretation has been consistently applied over the last few years.

I tipped the knights and I'm filthy, that Gagai no try was utter BS but I'm shocked at just how bad the knights are, fair enough Milfs 1st game back but 5th tackle kicking ws horrendous

The gagai no try looked clear cut to me
He lost possession very clearly and forcing the ball doesn’t (or at least hasn’t in years) constitute repossession

The shepherd one I can at least agree that those who say no try have valid arguments. But that Gagai one was a clear knock on imo

it never left his control, BJ Leilua had 2 like that disallowed for us and its garbage.
Unless it separates from the arm there should be no reason to take it away.

Like it or not the Gagai call was 100% by the modern interpretation with put downs judged in super slow motion.

Exactly my thoughts. Ball totally under control and never lost contact with his arm. 1 single freeze frame where his fingers weren't on the ball (even though it was still on his wrist) and it's disallowed.

Never lost control?! The ball came completely free of his hand
You cant control a football with your forearm! Once it came free of his hands, he's lost control, anything there after is moot unless he reestablishes possession.

I've seen it said that he did reestablish possession, and i can see how someone might make that arguement though id disagree strongly... to argue he never lost control is mind blowing haha

Correct call.

The ‘control’ came from the ball being sandwiched between Gagai’s hand and terra firma.

If not for the ground, the ball would have kept falling, therefore not under control.

Just on Newcastle. They rolled over but gee they looked like they've found their attacking structure. And Klemmer continues to be the most under rated player in the game presently imo.

I find this rule quite interesting. The player is required to 're-grip' the ball which is almostimpossiblein that situation, but if a grubber is put through you can push your hands down on a bouncing ball and ground it. If you compare the two scenarios a player grounding the ball on a kick never technically 'grips' the ball.

One they lost control and didn’t get it back before grounding it. The other they just ground it. Seems pretty clear cut to me.
