2023 coaching options
Time to start looking who are the viable options for coaches for the 2023 season. I have the following
Shane Flanagan: is a premiership-winning coach who has been suspended from the NRL.
Paul Green: premiership-winning coach
Cameron Ciraldo: is considered the next best thing in assistant coaching.
Jason Ryles: has moved to the Roosters from Melbourne because Marc Brentnall is being groomed to replace Craig Bellamy. Could be an option.
John Morris: Did good things at the Sharks whilst in his temporary head coach role
Super League
Kristian Woolf: St Helen’s coach’s who looks ready for NRL
Steve McNamara: doing good things at Catalans.
Let’s discuss

Stop kidding yourselves.
It’ll be White/McFadden/Woolford.
The board will only ever appoint a ‘good Canberra man’.

I think Woolf is the most realistic chance. Maybe he can bring some talent with him as well

Re: 2023 coaching options
You simply do not consider a former head coach who has been done for both drug and salary cap cheating. Why the NRL hasn't rubbed him out of the game is beyond me.
Paul Green. Has been.
I don't trust coaching form from Super League.
We should follow the Sharks example... and looking for fresh coaching talent. Certainly no internal promotion, given what's happening...

Time to think out of the box. Marino Vieri. Captain/Coach of Calcio Storico team Bianchi. Considered one of the more successful sides.
He’ll get the players tough

Re: 2023 coaching options
This is where we disagree. I agree they won't sack him but they won't give him another contract and next year is his last year.
With Stuart's sides they really hit low and don't improve (think Roosters and Cronulla) and with our squad I can't see us being out of the bottom 3 clubs
Re: 2023 coaching options
I absolutely believe they'll give stuart a 2-3 year extension sometime over the off season
I pray to god im wrong. But that's where im at with this club right now.

Re: 2023 coaching options
I'm pretty sure the club should hire a professional to hire us a coach... If Bellamy doesn't want to be a coach anymore fine but lets ask him to save us by hiring a coach who can and just giving us some pointers?
Also, obviously I don't' want David Furner but he has had more success than we have (GF win in 2016 with the Cowboys), so even he would be a step up right now...

2023 coaching options
I can already see it now
Post this season the club will put out some pieces that basically sayhad made moves to try and keep the premiership window open thinking they could get back, but now realise the club must build from the bottom again for a new era, and the best man for the job is the man who got the club within a bee's of a premiership. And he's been given an extension to undertake that task.
It'll be worded more carefully but that'll be ultimately what they're saying.

It would be good if one of the journalists reminded Ricky of his own quote that if he hasn't won a premiership by the expiry of his contract in 2023 then he should walk away.

Throw that money at Bellamy instead. I think Cameron would be decent, not sold on Cooper though. He has a good football brain but **** me he is pretty boring to listen to. I don't think the players would tune in to him.Brew wrote:On a serious note just throw two million at a Cameron Smith or Cooper Cronk

Re: 2023 coaching options
Can anyone imagine ANY other business with an executive level job, paying $500k+ and only 15 other jobs in the world at the same level where the incumbent is safe because no-one can even fathom that there might be a candidate out there who could do a better job? No?
Because seriously, if the job needs filling, you sack the merkin and fill the **** job. End of. The world moves on. You would be hard pressed to find a candidate who demeans the people paid to promote the game, demeans the fans, produces worse results, fails to develop players, who oversees worse roster decisions, who loses more matches from any positionl utter lack of leadership within the team, rookies confused, inefficient use of bench ... etc.
It's hard to find a metric another candidate could be worse at beyond bleeding green and proximity of birth to Quebehole.

Re: 2023 coaching options
Post Origin Billy Slater will be ripe for a role. Spent his whole career as an ‘assistant’ under Bellamy, knows exactly what it takes to win, would be able to attract current players. The Raider would be a good fit - of all the teams likely to be recruiting coaches it’s the most stable club, out of the Sydney spotlight, and with a good bunch of juniors.

Re: 2023 coaching options
Your all forgetting one thing.
Its not don and the board agreeing to a deal. It is more the matter of ricky if he wants to keep coaching or not, quite simple if he wants to keep coaching he will tell don he wants a new contract and don with agree.
Don and the board have given their powers away to ricky and he knows that.

I heard they will start interviews at Old Boy round, where all the applicants are in one place.
