Give him props, it’s not easy to fit in while simultaneously being an unstable influence
Feel free to call me RickyRicky StickStick if you like. I will also accept Super Fui, King Brad, Kid Dynamite, Chocolate-Thunda... or Brad.

Adam Elliott was good today.

Him being our best player out there tells me two things.

1. The rest of the team were poor.
2. None of the players are capable of playing consistently good football.

Stuart may suggest this team lacks talent. That may be true in some key positions, but they certainly lack the discipline and basic skills required for professional athletes.

I also know that every single player out there is capable of playing significantly better football. That is 100% a coaching failure. If you can't get your players performing near their best, or consistently well, that reflects poor preparation.

After seeing some of the passes dished up by Starling throughout the match, AE may be our best fit hooker.

I really don't understand how a hooker struggles at passing the ball? It makes it hard when everyone of your spine are poor to terrible ball players.

He had his best game. I fully expect him to be extended 3 years on 500k+ within the week.

A game plan where Elliot is the starting #9 for 15-20 mins, then becomes part of the lock/edge rotation/bench utility opens up as a possibility now.

I'd like to see him play well against the better teams in the comp too though. That was an absolute cripple fight and he may have just been in his element.

Yup agree 100%. Top teams we'll look like we're running in mud - but that's also the same for fullback and halfback.

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Canberra Raiders forward Adam Elliott, Millie Boyle on the move?

Newcastle have made a play to entice Adam Elliott to the club but face stiff competition from the Raiders who not only want to retain the backrower but will potentially offer his partner Millie Boyle a marquee spot should the club be given an NRLW franchise. The Knights see Elliott as a replacement for Mitch Barnett.

So, Elliott plays another good game against the Doggies, making Starling look useless in comparison in the process.

Maybe Newcastle will make an offer for Starling now?
Some people talk about the weather. Others do something about it.

Starling is trash outside 20-25 mins as an impact hooker when our forwards have a roll on.

If we need that within our 17 then ok otherwise let him go.

Far out, some of you blokes are harsh.

I’m not saying he isn’t capable of playing poor footy (as he did a number of times for the dogs), but perhaps now that he’s more settled off the field, his consistency will improve?

He didn’t do much in his first five or six games for us, but he was on a hiding to nothing coming off the bench for short stints. He’s no superstar, but he’s got a bit of leg speed and one of our most likely to make an offload.

I noticed when the dogs scored their try and it looked like we might fall in a heap (again), he
was the one doing all of the talking behind the posts.

Once again, he’s no superstar, but clearly he’s getting better the more mins he plays. I’d like to see him stay (depending on price of course).

I think he’s worth keeping in the squad on a smaller/average wage. I would not break the bank for him and I’d still be looking to upgrade and see him as bench depth

Here's the thing...
Right now we have a bunch of guys who are far more talented than what they are dishing up. That's application.

Elliott isn't the most talented bloke, but one thing he does do, is put on effort. That's why Rick likes him. He knows what he is going to get.

Unfortunately non-talented effort players in key positions tend not to be indicative of premiership sides.
