Adam Elliott to join Newcastle Knights
Looks like Adam Elliott could be on his way.
Canberra Raiders a shock contender to sign Canterbury Bulldogs outcast Adam Elliott
The Canberra Raiders are debating whether to throw Adam Elliott a lifeline after he agreed to a mutual parting of ways at the Bulldogs following a string of off-field incidents.
Elliott had been linked to the Wests Tigers but that is not expected to happen now. Elliott has a long standing friendship with Raiders recruitment chief Peter Mulholland who initially signed him at the Bulldogs years ago. Ricky Stuart also thinks Elliott is at least worth of having a conversation with.

I don’t hate this. He’s a decent footballer when he’s switched on.
But he’s a complete **** **** an his off field stuff is a real worry.

What does the article say exactly? Can’t say I’m too excited tbh. Don’t even know where to put him.
Re: Canberra Raiders linked with Adam Elliott
As if we didn't learn our lesson with Curtis Scott.
That article also says that Fogarty's deal is about $400,000 a season.

Has ability. Away from the big smoke and the very loose ‘culture’ at the Dogs, he could be a useful addition.
Re: Canberra Raiders linked to Adam Elliott
Please no. Absolute COAB and I disagree about his footballing ability - I see him as solid but a low-ceiling type.
Certainly the upside isn’t there to balance out the risk. Bloke is clearly a very slow learner

Be a bit awkward if they played Sweet Caroline over the PA at Bruce and he nuded up.

Hmmm... not sure about this 1.
The party boy attitude, and the issues that come along with it, isn't really suited to Canberra.
It's not really suited to the no D Head policy either.
Now...
Assuming we do pick him up:
A. Is he coming cheap due to "last chance" corral?
B. Where does he play? Not a dynamic edge player. Not an impact middle. Not really a ball playing lock, though I can see that being his role.

Re: Canberra Raiders linked with Adam Elliott
I don’t think he is a horrible footballer, he has talent and has a crack but he seems like a loose cannon off the field. If we had a strong culture and solid leadership then maybe you could slot him in, but our culture was in question this year and our leadership unsettled. Probably not the time to be taking chances.Matt wrote: ↑October 10, 2021, 5:59 pm Hmmm... not sure about this 1.

On a side note - why did he end up as the worst person in the world and Millie Boyle sail through unscathed from a mutual act of having a pash?
Re: Canberra Raiders linked to Adam Elliott
Doesn’t suit our needs I think. He is probably more suited to an edge than the middle but he is no better than what we currently have. I’d rather us sign blokes like that Gardner who are younger and looking for an opportunity and more importantly don’t have that history of bad behaviour

Werent we linked to him a couple of years ago?
I dont see the need for him unless we are losing CHN , Horse or another backrower. Even then I would look elsewhere

We need a replacement for Whitehead, who is clearly well past his prime.
Could definitely be worth a gamble if the dollars are right.

I agree he isnt the worst player. But not a standout anywhere.Billy Walker wrote: ↑October 10, 2021, 6:09 pmI don’t think he is a horrible footballer, he has talent and has a crack but he seems like a loose cannon off the field. Re: Canberra Raiders linked to Adam Elliott
Adam Elliott isnt very good and is a problem off the field
We took a gamble not too long ago, on a player with better pedigree... didn't pan out.
Very hard pass for me.

Yeah, why buy trouble when he doesn't even fit in your best 13- arguably even the best 17...

Re: Canberra Raiders linked to Adam Elliott
I could potentially seeing him playing a key role for the club, but that role involves him being a loan player and causing instability at rival clubs. Grim times if we are signing guys like him.
Re: Canberra Raiders linked to Adam Elliott
I don’t reckon he’d like the Canberra cold for his propensity for nakedness.
He also passes to the free man less than that Manly prop who kept getting into space.

He’s a Bega boy. Bega boys come good. The guy left the country for the big smoke and he got a little loose.

Tough stick love…. 2021 started with two DUIs, and a few of our juniors playing up out on the town. We have had players wives bagging decisions on social media, 2 player having recent run ins with police, one sacked after a nightclub incident, another leaving mid-season. I’m not sure Ricky runs the tight ship you think Fui.Fuifui Bradbrad wrote: ↑October 10, 2021, 6:51 pm He’s a Bega boy. Bega boys come good. Lock up your girlfriends !
He's not better than CHN or Young. Prefer one of the Parra dudes or Sims coming off contract than Elliott
Even Dylan Walker as a lock or bench player.

Re: Canberra Raiders linked to Adam Elliott
I hope it doesn't work out. He had a good season about 2 or 3 years ago but has been pretty ordinary since then. Off the field - not great for team harmony bringing a bloke like this into the group either.

BTW I'm less concerned about the off field stuff. I'd take Munster and Brandon Smith any day. Elliott though is a plodder like Curtis Scott. An expensive plodder at Canterbury which ultimately led to his demise. If he was cheap and/or a good player, Gus Gould and Barrett would have kept him

Rubbish footballer, rubbish bloke. Hope this doesn't play out. To me he is like a more expensive version of clay priest. No interest in him whatsoever

Interesting. There is the obvious link here to the toilet tryst. Millie's dad is David Boyle and her uncle is Toots Sr.

Agreed. Even Niukore, Matterson and Little Papa. Matt - what do you think of Walker ? I don't like him as a person, he's had a history with taunting some of our players, but i was impressed with his role in the finals and the rule changes suit himMatt wrote: ↑October 10, 2021, 7:12 pmId take Sims or Lane too.Hong Kong Raider wrote: ↑October 10, 2021, 7:03 pm Lock up your girlfriends !

Honestly, id take my chances with our current in house options over paying money for Elliott
