Friends, why all the Adam Elliot hate?
Ex rep player hitting form , settling in and now possibly getting extended , I can’t see the problem here?

Don’t listen to them, Adam... they just like to bag out the players forum

Hey Adam, welcome to the bag the players forum, can you give us an insight into what awesome Sun Tzu quote you're cooking up this week?

Re: Canberra Raiders looking to extend Adam Elliott by further two years
Even by Canberra Raiders standards, this is elite trolling. Give a guy whose career was on life support a run, watch him underperform for a couple of months, then as soon as he has a serviceable game or two rush out to re-sign him.
As I said when we re-signed Horsburgh, what's the rush? If other clubs are really seeing something so special in Elliot that they're queuing up to sign him, then let him walk. Otherwise, make him earn it via an extended period of good play and keeping his nose out of trouble.

Re: Canberra Raiders looking to extend Adam Elliott by further two years
Adam - if you’re actually reading this - you might be wondering how you could get the fan base onside. Here’s a few notes:
- congrats on the last two weeks mate, nice to see you hit some form. My only push back is you played at roughly NRL-standard (alongside roughly 200 other blokes who ran around this weekend) and have now executed that for 2 weeks of a 25 week season.
- we don’t need to see you in the media every second day big fella. You’re getting more airtime than peak Thurston! All we want is you ripping in wearing a green jersey every week, not some convoluted narrative to get your mug in front of a microphone
- and finally, a bloke with your track record of behaviour still hasn’t grasped that you’re better off seen and not heard. You do have to play at a higher than average level to win us over at a fan base, but that’s on you and your previous choices, not us. We are forgiving, but you need a bit more than a few handy cameos and some Sun Tzu quotes before we put our arms around you.
So you’ll have to excuse us if we don’t want to hear about “contract extension talk” from a bloke currently playing part-time hooker for the 3rd-worst team in the comp, with a long off field rap sheet. (Even if you’ve managed to attach yourself to a more talented missus).

I warned Adam just before he did his mad Monday stripper routine underpants toss for the paparazzi with their Daily Telegraph zoom lenses.
“People in the greenhouse say you shouldn’t throw jocks”.
Thus proving once and for all that the posters on this fine forum always have the interest of past, current and future players in mind.

over 100 career games with about 10 that were of nrl quality.
We need to improve our squad to return to the top 4, not extend our current squad and stay in the bottom 4

But Rick wants THESE BLOKES to win a premiership Boney! That’s not going to happen unless he locks them all up on overs. Just like we seem incapable of just dropping players, having to make excuses for them or let them down gently on the bench - we also have a problem letting players leave the club if the market dictates it.
Signing this plodder, to any amount of money, only sinks us further into the mire. The club has made their bed with the shocking Croker and Whitehead deals - the only way they can lie in it is to put rookies on min deals around them, surely

Adam is the replacement of Dunamis Lui I see. Not a world beater but not breaking the bank. Probably costing us $250k a year and can play front row, edge and now hooker.
We’ve made far worse signings in the past and no doubt in the future

Haha. Roosters look to sign Cameron Munster and clear room to do so - they are ruthless winners.
We look to sign plodders that won't move the needle on overvalued contracts - who even Phil Gould for his past mistakes (Moylan, Cartwright and Reagan Campbell Gillard contracts) got rid of at the first opportunity.
Says a lot about the direction we are heading in.

he was on 500k at the dogs, reports at the time we paid 275 for 1 year, he'll be after more than that and imo he's not worth a cent over 200LastRaider wrote:Adam is the replacement of Dunamis Lui I see. The new contract would be far higher than 250k, you can bet your bottom dollar

Indeed, ihcahC
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Look I can’t see it being anymore than $300k per season, probably a 3 year deal like Lui’s. I’m still good with that.bonehead wrote:he was on 500k at the dogs, reports at the time we paid 275 for 1 year, he'll be after more than that and imo he's not worth a cent over 200LastRaider wrote:Adam is the replacement of Dunamis Lui I see.
