Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

AT A GLANCE: The NSW Cup Canberra Raiders upset the ladder leading Penrith Panthers at Kippax on Saturday afternoon, running out 34-12 victors. It was the second week in a row that the Raiders had knocked over one of the top teams, after beating the Newtown Jets, 30-22, at Canberra Stadium in Round 13.

The Raiders were quick out of the blocks, with winger Elijah Anderson scoring in the corner in just the second minute. Trey Mooney made a strong run down the northern touch line in the lead up. A good break and pass from half Brad Schneider followed, sending Anderson over the line. Panthers' fullback Sunia Turuva hit back with a try in the 10th minute, after three consecutive red zone sets. But the Raiders took back the lead in the 19th minute, when prop Ata Mariota stepped his way down the middle of the field, scoring under the posts. The Raiders were in again 10 minutes later, when Albert Hopoate contested a Josh James bomb. He came away with the ball, easily spinning out of an attempted tackle to score. Three minutes before the break, Raiders fullback Rayden Burns chased a Brad Schneider grubber, scoring another four pointer for the home team. That gave the Green Machine a 22-6 half time lead.

The Raiders lost Burns in the 44th minute, when he was sadly stretchered off and taken to hospital. The Panthers scored almost immediately after the resumption of play, with Turuva getting his second try of the day. Albert Hopoate, filling in at fullback for Burns, chimed in on the right in the 51st minute. Brad Schneider got the try assist, with a crisp long pass. Penrith forward J'maine Hopgood was sin binned near the 60 minute mark, after an "all-in" melee in the middle of the field. But the Raiders were unable to take advantage of playing just 12 men - and the final quarter was a real arm wrestle. A try to Raiders forward Clay Webb just before full time wrapped up the victory.

The Raiders had 57 per cent of the possession, a full seven minutes more with the ball. The Panthers completed at just 62 per cent, produced 15 errors (Raiders eight) and missed 46 tackles. The Raiders ran for nearly 300 metres more with the ball than the Panthers and produced 46 tackle breaks and over 550 post contact metres.

Albert Hopoate posted 205 running metres, while Trey Mooney (170) and Ata Mariota (128) were the metre eaters in the forwards. Adrian Trevilyan (29), Emre Guler (28), Mariota (28) and Mooney (25) topped the tackle count. Brad Schneider got three try assists.

The Raiders still sit in seventh place on the ladder - and next meet the Newcastle Knights at Canberra Stadium. The Knights are coming off a 38-12 defeat, at the hands of the Newtown Jets at Hunter Stadium on Sunday. They also have recent losses to the Rabbitohs (37-14) and Bulldogs (20-16). They beat the Panthers (36-26) at Maitland in Round 12, while they also won at Kogarah against the Dragons (27-20) in Round 11. The Raiders have the better attacking and defensive record so far in 2022. This is a match the Raiders can't afford to drop.

Form: Raiders: WWLWW (7 and 5, 7th, +38)
Knights: LWWLL (5 and 8, 9th, -60)
Attack: Raiders 28, Knights 21 points scored per game
Defence: Raiders 24, Knights 26 points conceded per game
Recent meetings: 2021 Round 9 Knights 22 defeated Raiders 20 at Wagga Wagga

Team news: The Raiders have not named a replacement at fullback for Rayden Burns at fullback, after he was injured last week. They have also only named a three man bench, but Mitch Souter was a late inclusion last week - after playing in the Jersey Flegg match. Lucky for Souter, he only had to play 13 minutes. The team is otherwise unchanged.

MATCH REPORT: Canberra Raiders NSW Cup team hold on to beat Newcastle Knights

The Canberra Raiders NSW Cup side have made it three straight wins after holding on to defeat the Newcastle Knights 30-26 at Canberra Stadium on Sunday afternoon. After leading by 22-points early in the second half, the Raiders were almost chased down by the resilient Knights who brought it to a four-point game with five minutes to go.

AT A GLANCE: The NSW Cup Canberra Raiders held on in the face of a second half comeback from the Newcastle Knights at Canberra Stadium in Round 15 - running out 30-26 winners. Albert Hopoate was the star of the show for the Raiders, scoring four tries.

The Raiders led, 18-4, at half time, with Hopoate getting a hat trick, while fellow winger Steven Numambo got one. A try to Semi Valemei and a futher try to Hopoate in the opening 10 minutes of the second half saw the Raiders extend their lead to 22 points. But then came the comeback from Newcastle. The Knights scored three straight tries in the space of eight minutes - and trailed by just six points at the 60 minute mark. But a second try to Semi Valemei off a Josh James pass in the 72nd minute gave the home team some breathing space. But it was a nervous final five minutes for the Raiders after Knights centre Heath Gibbs crossed - and the conversion from Jake Clifford narrowed the gap to four points. A second try to Steven Numambo was denied in the final minute, but by then, the Raiders had done enough, just.

In the end, the Raiders outscored the Knights seven tries to five, but had problems with the goal kicking. Brad Schneider missed two conversions before he left the field with an injury - while Josh James kicked one from five attempts. Their goal kicking woes very nearly cost them the match.

Hopoate ran for 266 metres with the ball in hand and made three line breaks and seven tackle breaks. Fullback Elijah Anderson produced 162 metres, with centre Semi Valemei (136) not far behind in the backs. Harry Rushton (145) and Peter Hola (133) were the metre eaters in the forwards. Rushton (43), Adrian Trevilyan (38) and Jordan Martin (35) topped the tackle count.

The Raiders have moved up to sixth place on the ladder - and in Round 16 meet the St George Illawarra Dragons at Wollongong. It is part of a double header with the NRL clash. The Dragons are coming off a 41-40 defeat at the hands of Mounties at Aubrey Keech Reserve on Sunday. Both teams scored seven tries, and were only separated by a Brad Abbey field goal in the 79th minute. The Dragons halves, Jayden Sullivan and Zach Herring both got doubles. The Dragons have also had recent losses to the Knights (27-20) and Rabbitohs (26-10). Their recent wins came against the Bulldogs (40-22) and Panthers (26-22).

The Raiders are on a three game winning streak, beating two top four teams, the Jets and Panthers in the process. They'll be looking to consolidate their position on the ladder, by backing up against the eighth placed Dragons.

Season record: Raiders: 8 and 5 (6th, +42)
Dragons: 6 and 8 (8th, -80)
Form: Raiders: WLWWW
Dragons: LWWLL
Attack: Raiders 28, Dragons 23 points scored per game
Defence: Raiders 24, Dragons 29 points conceded per game
Recent meeting: 2021 Round 15 Dragons 14 defeated Raiders 10 at Wollongong Stadium

Team news: While Brad Schneider has not been included in the team list, the Raiders have indicated he will partner Matt Frawley in the halves. Josh James has been dropped to the bench. Michael Asomua returns from Under 19s Origin duty and replaces Steven Numambo on the wing. Emre Guler has been replaced by Peter Hola at starting prop, while Trey Mooney is back at second row. Jordan Martin goes back to the bench. Josh Mitchell and Clay Webb drop out of the squad, with Josh Baker comes in on the interchange list.

Was hearing today that the Raiders NSW Cup team were on the bus this morning, and left Raiders HQ... only to be told to turn the bus around at the first roundabout. The Dragons and NSWRL clearly should have made the call on Friday to transfer both Flegg and NSW Cup to Raiders Belconnen today. The Dragons only cancelled NSW at 9:30am this morning! Not clear when the game will be played.

AT A GLANCE: The Canberra Raiders' Round 16 NSW Cup clash with the St George Illawarra Dragons was postponed due to severe weather in Wollongong on Sunday. It is unclear when that match will now be played. But it is clear that they will face the fourth placed North Sydney Bears - the feeder team for the Sydney Roosters - next Saturday at Kippax.

The Raiders now sit in fifth place on the ladder, having won their past three matches. The Bears are coming off a 24-20 loss to Penrith at Panthers Stadium last Friday night. They have recent wins over the Rabbitohs (32-22), Mounties (26-18) and the Eels. They suffered a recent, 22-16 loss to the Blacktown Sea Eagles in Round 13. There is not much between these teams in terms of their attacking and defensive record so far this season. But Canberra probably has the stronger recent form line. It will be well worth getting out to Kippax on Saturday for the double header, with the Raiders' NRL team having the bye this weekend. The Jersey Flegg clash with the Roosters kicks off at 1:40pm, and this clash at 3:00pm.

Season record: Raiders: 8 and 5, 1 draw declared (5th, +45)
Bears: 10 and 5 (4th, +80)
Form: Raiders: WLWWW
Bears: WLWWL
Attack: Raiders 28, Bears 27 points scored per game
Defence: Raiders 24, Bears 21 points conceded per game
Recent meetings: 2022 Round 6 Bears 28 defeated Raiders 20 at North Sydney Oval
2021 Round 12 Bears 34 defeated Raiders 12 at North Sydney Oval

Team news: The Raiders have failed to name a five eighth, hooker and fullback - all critical play making positions. It appears injuries and COVID are still causing problems. We can probably expect some first grade injections. Elijah Anderson was named at fullback for last Sunday's postponed match, but he's been selected in the more familiar wing position this week. Albert Hopoate has been shifted to centre, with Mitchell Spencer dropping out. Brad Schneider is missing from the line up. It was expected he'd be the halves partner for Matt Frawley last Sunday. He should line up. Hooker Adrian Trevilyan is missing from the named team. Emre Guler returns at starting prop, with Peter Hola dropping to the bench. James Schiller (shoulder) is set to return from injury on the bench.
