So a thread full of great sporting achievements and uplifting tales has now become a depressing reminder of how they **** up the final series of GOT. You guys suck.

Re: Tokyo Olympics
GOLD Emma McKeon! That's absolutely incredible! 50m free. Three gold medals. One of the best Olympics for Australia ever in the pool, alongside 1956.
Re: Tokyo Olympics
Gold for Emma McKeon in the 50m free! Her 6th medal in this games, 3rd gold (2 individual) and 3 bronze (1 individual)
Re: Tokyo Olympics
Can the Australians get another medal, maybe gold in the relays?

Pretty clearly GE’s fault. Re: Tokyo Olympics
THAT'S AWESOME! GOLD FOR THE WOMEN in the 4x100m medley relay! What an amazing race! Nine gold in the pool!
Re: Tokyo Olympics
GOLD! The women cap off an unbelievable swim meet with gold in the 4 x 100m women’s medley. They beat the Americans by .13 seconds, unbelievably close. Amazing stuff. 12 golds for Australia now, 9 in the pool, 8 by the women.
Re: Tokyo Olympics
Four gold medals for McKeon, the first Australian to win four gold medals at one Olympic games. Seven medals at one games.
Re: Tokyo Olympics
Imagine if the men got their act together in the pool!
Re: Tokyo Olympics
Men's relay is the last event... and what a swim meet this has been for Australia... can they get another medal?
Re: Tokyo Olympics
The men finish in fifth. Amazing performance from the swim team.

I have a mate and our entire messenger exachanges are randomly ranting about season 8 of GOT's every 4-6 months.gangrenous wrote: ↑August 1, 2021, 8:33 am It’s ok if he doesn’t place. The Summer Olympics will be over, but then Winter is coming.
Man, now I’m all sad about how bad GOT was again. Thanks GE!
It's literally like "Holy ****, i just saw X and it reminded me of ..."
and we just rant for 2 hours and then forget each other exist for another 3 months

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

How good was the men's hockey shoot out, one on one. So much better than a penalty shoot out.

Re: Tokyo Olympics
Unhappy result for Australia's women's hockey team. Eliminated by India in a big upset. First defeat of the Olympics.

India have a population over a billion. No suprises they conjure up 11 players better than we can. Really, they did well to make it this far.

Yeah but they all play cricket. Their hockey team comes from a pool of 12.Begbie wrote:India have a population over a billion. No suprises they conjure up 11 players better than we can. Really, they did well to make it this far.

That's not true. Obviously in India, cricket is king, but hockey is very popular and India has proud hockey tradition at the Olympicsgergreg wrote:Yeah but they all play cricket. Not you too Boney? I remember 20+ years ago the Indian hockey team running around, a lot of them with turbins (not sure if it was just a popular sport with Sikhs?) And thinking, these guys are pretty good.
Opals through to the finals after winning just one pool game? Seems odd. Lose two games... yeah come on through... flinch on the starters blocks on the track... see you in 3 years buddy.
