He opened the game back up during the pandemic though.

Don't forget that. Ever.

Big call. Hayne had spiders on him. Regularly ran through the whole team.
Would be interesting to compare stats. He just got robbed of another try and then an assist, too

This game isn't a fatigue/momentum blowout though. This is just a disparity between teams. Manly using the full width of the field, and Bulldogs have no idea how to stop it

Some great long wide passes from DCE. Once again, attack wins. Looking forward to our grindfest at 5:30 tho 😃

Yep. This scoreline has nothing to do with rule changes

It's not even as if Manly have decent outside backs. Their 2-5 are worse than ours even with Croker and Scott in the lineup.

If we simply just spread the ball more often, we'd see a marked improvement - even despite the lack of an attacking fullback gluing the pieces together.

This game is very typical of what the blowouts this year have looked like though

The tigers storm game where the storm are up 22-nil before the tigers have had it for more than 6 tackles has probably never happened before and might not happen again

this is what these blow outs are... The storm and Panthers are blowing out everyone in this exact way, and then the eels, roosters, rabbits and manly do to the other 10 teams what the storm and panthers do to them. There are 6 teams who understand how it is that you win in 2021, 2 of them are just substancially more talented 1-17 than the other 4, and the other 10 teams are wallowing in their own filth.

We're going to get a tasty little crash course on what style of football cant win in about an hour

No doubt over the next few years this will become normalised.

But I also wonder whether the talent pool is not there anymore or not as strong? Look at QLD for example, there is just so little depth in their club teams which is translated into their SOO team.

I see such a disparity in talent, though I may well be reading too much into it and that it's always been there.

Ball to Luke Thompson on the fifth, inside the opposition 20. Ending in a seven tackle set

Worth noting, manly are cutting up the bulldogs with excellent, sharp, flat long balls... literally no one in our team is capable of making those passes regularly.

Yep. We could at least do better, though. We barely have any width, but occasionally when we do we look better

No question we should at least TRY to play with some width
This style we play now gives me PTSD from the Matt Elliott train tracks seasons

And at risk of sounding like a broken record, put Smelly at lock and that will automatically add significant width. Halves wouldn't have to pass as long

66-0 after 75 minutes.

Manly have essentially had 5 tries overturned into no tries.

And 1 absolutely butchered.

This game is realistically an 80-90 point different between the teams rather than 66.

Scary.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Apt that I log in here for the best part of a week to mention how bloody awesome this Manly team is and the first thing I read is old sad sack dissing a Canberra player in a thread not about that.
