Charge of hindering police against Canberra Raiders hooker Tom Starling dismissed, after “barrage of punches” to Starling’s face
A Sydney court has dismissed a charge of hindering or resisting police in the execution of their duty against NRL player Tom Starling after lengthy court proceedings stemming from a brawl at a Central Coast venue, Shady Palms.
“Clearly what occurred was nothing other than Tom being assaulted himself,” the Magistrate said. “I’m not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt they were acting in execution of their duty. Clearly they were acting outside the execution of their duty.”

So when are charges being filed against the police that commited this assault?“Clearly what occurred was nothing other than Tom being assaulted himself,” the Magistrate said. “I’m not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt they were acting in execution of their duty. Clearly they were acting outside the execution of their duty.”

It’s always confused me as to why the police officers in incidents like this are never held accountableRaider Azz wrote: ↑February 10, 2023, 12:13 pmSo when are charges being filed against the police that commited this assault?“Clearly what occurred was nothing other than Tom being assaulted himself,” the Magistrate said. “I’m not satisfied beyond reasonable doubt they were acting in execution of their duty. I get that in reality it’s just the police protecting their own, but if they started to actually prosecute the thugs in the force and boot them from the force, maybe the police could improve its reputation and culture

Perverting the course of justice is a crime. Considered a very serious one.
Re: Canberra Raiders gun Tom Starling has hindering police charge dismissed
Starling probably just wants to be done with this but he now has a slam dunk civil suit for all sorts of damages from the NSW citizen bashing force. One of umpteen million they pay out every year.

Tom Starling to consider action against NSW Police after charge dropped
The lawyer of NRL star hooker Tom Starling said multiple options were being considered against NSW Police after the Canberra Raiders hooker was cleared of hindering police during a wild bar brawl in the Central Coast. Outside court, Tom Starling said the verdict was a “huge weight” off his shoulders and he was now keen to focus on footy.
“I’ve always maintained I did nothing wrong and now I’m keen to get back to playing footy with my mates,” he said.

The CCTV footage didn’t do the policeman any favours, but the audio was quite interesting. Seems like the policeman is actually a raiders supporter:
“Why (whack)…
Can’t you (thump)
Learn (crack)
To pass (kapow)
A football! (bam)”

I heard ‘The Mighty Green Machine’ was playing in the background, and the cops took the line of “we'll HIT YA...HIT YA...HIT YA... And you'll see GREEN!” a little too literally

Yours was good though too Finchy. Maybe a little edgy and intellectual but I liked it. In fact I might use it if I ever find myself stuck in a BBQ conversation with Paul Harrigan and Blocker Roach.

Canberra Raiders star Tom Starling and brother Josh to be sentenced over Terrigal intimidation charge
The words "**** you" and a gesture encouraging a security guard to "come here" was the extent of the offence which saw Canberra Raiders hooker Tom Starling arrested. He and his brother Josh will be sentenced over one charge of stalk/intimidate after an incident at a popular cocktail bar in Terrigal in October 2021.
The brothers were denied entry into Mumbo Jumbos before later yelling "f**k you" at a security guard – who had previously called their mum a "slut" in 2020 – and gestured for him to come to them as they stood on the street. In October 2022, Tom and John Starling entered pleas of guilty to the stalk/intimidate charge, with other charges withdrawn.

Sentencing adjourned until April 27 and a mental health application may be lodged.

Nothing good comes from a mumuration of starlings at Mumbo Jumbos.

Charge against Tom Starling for Mumbo Jumbos incident dismissed
Canberra Raiders playmaker Tom Starling has avoided a conviction for intimidating a bouncer after he and his brothers were refused entry to a Central Coast nightclub. The 24-year-old pleased guilty to intimidating a security guard at Mumbo Jumbos at Terrigal in October 2021. His lawyer sought that the charge be dealt with under mental health provisions.
Prosecutor Senior Sergeant Amin Assaad said in light of the evidence heard in the Shady Palms hearing police were not seeking a conviction against either Tom or his brother Josh. That's the final matter outstanding. In Sydney, Tom was denied an application that court costs be met by NSW Police.

Still waiting for the officer who a judge ruled in court committed an assult against Tom to be charged. I won't hold my breath.

NSW Police officers who assaulted Canberra Raiders star Tom Starling facing action
NSW Police have launched an internal investigation into the police officers who "assaulted" a Canberra Raiders player. Tom Starling says his family might have to sell their family home to cover legal fees for the case.
"It's pretty upsetting to see. It's changed my family forever, financially and emotionally," he said. "I don't think we'll ever be the same after the events that happened that night. We might need to sell the family house that we grew up in to keep paying these legal fees. We're trying our best to get our way through."

Good to hear these thugs might actually face some criminal ramifications themselves
If the police wish to clean up their act and reputation country wide, more of this is required.
They have to hold their own accountable to the same standards they enforce.
The police force are enforcers of the law, they are not above it. I understand this is a difficult and dangerous job and i am thankful for those who do it and do it the right way, however If an officer behaves outside of their duty, as the judge in this case suggested, they should all know they too will have to face the repercussions of their actions, just as i or you would.
And if found guilty , i would expect pending the severity and history, they should face severe punishment, from demotions in rank, to suspensions without pay and dismissal where appropriate.

NSW police are on fire lately.
I hope Starling was compensated for the incident. Completely unacceptable from the police.
