It was 40 years ago that the Raiders played their first ever game
The Raiders played their first trial game against Canterbury at Belmore Sports Ground at 3pm on 6 February 1982.
According to the program produced by the Bulldogs, the teams were:
Canterbury: 1 Greg Brentnall, 2. Chris Anderson, 3. Chris Mortimer, 4. Peter Mortimer, 5. Steve Gearin, 6. Garry Hughes, 7. Steve Mortimer, 8. Steve Folkes, 9. Peter Cassilles, 10. Graeme Hughes, 11. John Coveney, 12. George Peponis (C), 13. Geoff Robinson.
Canberra: 1. Rowan Brennan, 2. Chris O'Grady, 3. David Reid, 4. Frank Roddy, 5. Ian Hamilton, 6. Lloyd Martin, 7. Gerry De La Cruz, 8. Scott Dudman, 9. John McLeod, 10. Jon Hardy, 11. David Grant, 12. Jay Hoffman (c), 13. Jeff Simons. Reserves: 14 Carl Frommel, 15. Peter McGrath, 16. Derek Scheaffer, 17. Lui Bon, 18. Alan Smith.

As was I, biggest crowd I’ve seen at Bruce. I recall some folks set themselves up on the outer hill area at the southern end.

Without googling I seem to recall Lloyd Martin did one of those things but expect to be told he didn’t debut till 4 years later?
