This is bigger than the onfield, this has flow on to the kids who will form our pack in 2023 onwards signing with us knowing big papa has their backs

Whatever we're paying him he's worth it. His impact on the field is equivalent to a top end spine player.

Looks like he has a great off field relationship with players like Sia, Croker, Wighton and Lui in particular.
I think that has helped Papa settle into his football and family roles that are so important to him. What a club leader he has become.

'Papa's stay at the Eels would have been short lived': Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart
Ricky Stuart maintains if Josh Papalii ended up at Parramatta when the coach himself signed him to the western Sydney club for the 2014 season, it would not have worked out.
"Knowing Papa the way I do now, his stay at the Eels would have been short lived," Stuart says. "That's got nothing to do with the Eels. But Papa wouldn't have lasted living in Sydney. He likes the quieter life."
