It's going to really catch people out when Croker is the one not picked at centre. Nice play ricky.

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart says he's unsure whether Joey Leilua or Curtis Scott will partner co-captain Jarrod Croker in the centres in Rd 1 of the 2020 season.

"That all works itself out. It comes down to training performance at this stage of the year. Sometimes those types of decisions don't come down to coaches or selections. It comes down to the players' performance and contribution."

So it's going to come down to training performance and contribution but he didn't take Joey on the training camp...
I said this at the top of the thread, I think it answers your Q too:
Matt wrote: January 9, 2020, 11:01 am Leilua is more talented/ physically gifted than Scott. No doubt in my mine. However, and this wont be popular, but...

1. Leilua had a terrible neck injury last yr.
2. Leilua has been shopped around for the past 12 months.
3. Leilua is off contract this season.
4. Leilua's partner in crime is now in Japana (sorry... ).
5. Scott is unlikely to have signed a 4yr deal to play reserve grade.

IMO, that right edge is being overhauled, so start from scratch, and get those combo's working together ASAP.
So, the right edge I think Ricky will pick is Georgie 'dub-ya', Bateman, Scott, Simmo.
And I read it.

I'm just not ready to say goodbye to Joey yet.

Where else can we find the kind of maniac who will throw a 15m flick pass while spinning 180 degrees mid tackle - who'll scatter forwards like ninepins whenever we need a charge out of our end - who'll get hit in the eyeball with a banger before a semi final - who'll drift across filled shoving off defenders and then deliver a perfectly timed Thurston level face ball for a Croker try - then drop the knees on a guy who just scored as if 50 000 people and 8 TV cameras won't see it?

Leilua and Scott for mine. I'm getting firm mail that Croker has been earmarked for Lock.

Croker to Lock could be the thing for 2020.

I can't see Leilua still at our club by the time Round 1 kicks off... he's the most damaging centre in the game and there are teams like the Tigers with cash to splash, the Titans are crying for talent and will have a bit of coin if they can work out a deal get the Bunnies to take on Arrow's entire contract for this year...

Spend a year looking and finish in the top 4 or go and collect a spoon. Hmm decisions, decisions.

There aren't many players spending a year looking at options in their final contract year at his age... one major injury and there goes his chances at securing something for beyond 2020. Most agents would be trying to get a deal done as soon as possible.

There is zero chance he goes to the titans. They wouldn't even up their offer for arrow. They're not going to be offering a number that would have BJ happy to be collecting a spoon.

Arrow move to Bunnies for this season has become acrimonious, and some. Meninga not budging on player(s) transfer.

They have too much money tied up with Taylor, James, Boyd, Proctor, Peachey, Cartwright and many more under achievers.

Their cap is a shambles but as bad as things are, and as sad as this sounds, he is their Papalii. At least it seems that way to me.
I think they should have found a way to build their pack around him rather than using this particular deal to make a stand. I guess in the end they'll be a bit of a basket case either way until they can clear the decks.
Having Arrow and Fotuaika there would have laid a good platform and given Tino Fa’asuamaleaui (who looks to have huge potential) a good few years to build up off the bench and in the rep period. Then at the end of Arrow's contract you reassess.
So many problems though. Every damn part of their squad has issues.

They've got to stop chasing players based on their names. Proctor has been OK, but highly over priced coming out of that Storm system, while deals for the likes of Taylor, Hayne and Boyd have been horrific.

...add Peachey and Cartwright to that list. Big contracts for players that have been a negative factor on the field.

This is probably the best set up for our wingers. Allows for Cotric to play in his Origin position and Simonsson to play where he has played his best footy for us so far on the left wing.

Yep. Next level terrible recruiting. So many players with off-field issues...on the Gold Coast of all places.
