Gungahlin Bulls ready for stiffest test against unbeaten Raiders under-20s

Gungahlin coach Neil Bijorac maintains the Canberra Raiders under-20s are beatable in this season's truncated local league, despite the competition newcomers' undefeated start.

"Their results against every team they've had have been close up until halftime or even three quarter time. They're a class side, but their fitness gets them home against most sides.

4th min TRY BULLS to winger Todd Sherd. It follows any early error from the Raiders, giving Gungahlin early field position. Big overlap for the Bulls. No conversion from the sideline.

Brotherly love runs over as Gungahlin Bulls end Canberra Raiders' charge

The Gungahlin Bulls became the first team to beat the Raiders U20s, taking advantage of an extra man to win 34-18 at Kippax on Saturday.

"Jeremiah Simbikin got sent off. He caught his brother Jedi high and he got sent off there with a bit to go," Ash Barnes said. "Probably got him worse in the backyard previously, but they decided to send him off.

Terry Campese suffers quad injury as Woden Valley Rams hammer Queanbeyan Blues

A potentially season-ending quadriceps injury to Terry Campese capped a miserable outing for the Queanbeyan Blues against a Steven Ferry-inspired Woden Rams on Sunday.

Captain Ferry's first career double helped orchestrate a stirring 52-30 comeback win in a match where the defending-premier Blues finished with no fit troops on the bench.

Woden Valley Rams 52 (Tries: S Ferry 2, D Spencer 2, S Swanson, D Desmet, L Ingram, T Jones, M Geiger; Goals: B Robertson 8) defeated Queanbeyan Blues 30 (Tries: C Ale 3, T Campese, A Barlow; Goals: T Campese 5)

It is a very tight race for the second spot in the Grand Final with three rounds to go.

Raiders Under 20s still comfortably on top at 4 and 1 and it would almost be mathematically impossible for them not to make the GF but all other teams are 2 and 3 and very much in contention.

Raiders Under 20s. 8 pts. +54
Gungahlin Bulls. 4 pts. +3
Woden Rams. 4 pts. +2
Queanbeyan Blues. 4 pts. -59

CRRL Cup Round 7 Preview

The Canberra Raiders Under 20’s went down to the Gungahlin Bulls in round six, in their first loss of the season. The men in green are still four points clear on top of the ladder, but a loss could see some pressure on them to retain their place. The Raiders Under 20’s have the wood over the Rams, defeating them twice already this season, but if the Rams can produce another performance like last weekend, it would go a long way to a win.

Woden Valley Rams young gun Daine Spencer keen for more NRL action

Daine Spencer's preseason brush with the NRL has left the Woden fullback dreaming of a future in the lime green.

"My main goal is to crack NRL and I'd love to do it here in Canberra where I'm from, where I've grown up," Spencer said. "Being able to play in [the NRL 9s with the Raiders ] was pretty amazing, especially with the quality of boys that we went over with."

Is there some tier system similar to CRRL > NSW Cup > NRL? If we decide to do our own side in the NSW Cup, we should start aligning with CRRL teams and create a proper tier system
