The absolute only way any other of that happens is if Hodgson allows it. Our entire backline, which is where we have the advantage in this game, is totally reliant on Hodgson giving them the damn ball.Mickey_Raider wrote: ↑September 8, 2019, 12:50 pm Nothing short of playing our best game of the year, or something close to it, will get the job done on Saturday.
If we can make it all click, we will have a GF qualifier at home. Despite our yips at GIO, there is no greater opportunity to play in the big dance than that.
I feel like there is a lot of discussion about the last couple of spots in the 17; notwithstanding the requirement that we get strong contributions across the 17, our success won't be determined by whether we run with Lui/Sutton/Guler.
We need Papa to continue to be the best prop in the game.
Sia to continue to be our spiritual leader and inspire the team.
Bateman to continue to be tough, unrelenting, and an attacking threat on the edge.
Whitehead's continued 2-way contributions and creativity.
CNK to ramp it up a notch in attack.
Hodgson to be at his best, and not overplaying his hand.
Wighton to be finishing off his threatening runs.
Sezer to be competent or better with his kicking game.
Leipana to be something close to their 2016 form.
Cotric to step up.
And we need miles and miles of heart from the team as a whole to ensure that our dream doesn't remain just a dream.
We can dare to dream, but in my mind it is absolutely contingent on kicking up a gear. Do we have it?
I think we do.
Thanks!-TW- wrote:For members it's 10am Monday

Oh well, you still don't think we'll lose another game so who cares? The Rickman wrote: ↑September 8, 2019, 6:14 pm So our home record this year is 5-6, that’s pretty bad. And I went to one game in Canberra for one win, so that means our home record without me is 4-6
Good grief, the rest of you weak pricks have got some explaining to do
Yes, its obviously this lol
Tapine > Sutton agreed
That game won't have made any difference. BJ is a superior spud.Billy Walker wrote: ↑September 7, 2019, 8:08 pm I would have said BJ wasn’t coming back this year if Cotric hadn’t play like a total spud at centre.
Simmonsen tried too hard today and overplayed his hand a bit but hard not to like what he’s throwing up. I wouldn’t be outraged if he started on a wing but it would be a huge call.
This could just be because our other playmakers go missing! I've always believed Sezer stinks in key moments - but he did that belief some damage with those field goals against the Sharks. May that continue.GreenMachine wrote: ↑September 8, 2019, 5:05 pm The issue with Hodgson is that the bigger the match, the more he seems to overplay his hand.
He needs to give early ball and pick his moments when it comes to holding up the markers with his ball playing.
You reckon BJ will be left out?Boomercm wrote: ↑September 8, 2019, 8:45 pmThat game won't have made any difference. BJ is a superior spud.Billy Walker wrote: ↑September 7, 2019, 8:08 pm I would have said BJ wasn’t coming back this year if Cotric hadn’t play like a total spud at centre.

If we win Hodgo will have played 80 at 9 so Havili misses out as there are better middle options.
Lui scrapes in off experience and being better defensively than Havili. As already mentioned Lui really needs to go back to basics especially with the strip.
Was hard leaving Guler out after that last performance but he hasn't strung them together in first grade yet. Excellent signs for next year. If Horse is injured Guler could come in.
Young won't be available and he wouldn't have stayed in the side with Tapine and Bateman back.
Tapine always seems to come back from injury underdone so I've got him on the bench. Sutton can absorb the first 20.
We've had a couple of back injuries recently. Simonsson allows us to cover the back 5.
Hingano is on the extended bench as Williams is injured.
Agree with this team but I’d name Murchie over Hingano if Williams is unfit.zim wrote: ↑September 9, 2019, 1:26 am 1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad

I actually think our advantage over Melbourne is the forward pack and more specifically the backrow and general stiffness of our second row/half combinations in defence and attack.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑September 8, 2019, 4:29 pmThe absolute only way any other of that happens is if Hodgson allows it. If he doesn't trust his halves (both of them) we are screwed.
Ironically it is only when Hodgson gives up the ball that opportunities open up for him. Unpredictable runarounds, early kicks and short crash balls on the last are no longer unpredictable if they happen every **** set.

Agree entirely. I've been hoping we would run 4th for a month and think Melbourne is a much easier game. We will give Melbourne's inexperience in their individuals and combinations a real test. Roosters much more settled.julian87 wrote: ↑September 9, 2019, 7:53 amI actually think our advantage over Melbourne is the forward pack and more specifically the backrow and general stiffness of our second row/half combinations in defence and attack.Seiffert82 wrote: ↑September 8, 2019, 4:29 pmThe absolute only way any other of that happens is if Hodgson allows it. Unrelated to this I actually feel a bit weird that people were disappointed with the result of playing Melbourne besides being harder to get to as a fan. Player v player the roosters have them covered comfortably imo.
They’ve got a makeshift 7, a fullback who’s played about 4 games there (both good players but they’re rolling into the semis with a combo that’s only been together for a few weeks) and an understrength bench since Welch’s injury. We all know how consistent and professional they are, they’re a good team. Smith and Munster are world class and they have speed to burn out wide. But they’re not some unbeatable team of immortals.
I think if Cotric smashed it and showed he’s going to be the best centre since Mal we wouldn’t be seeing BJ again the season, but based after Cotric’s very average showing I suspect Ricky will slot BJ straight back in there.Boomercm wrote: ↑September 9, 2019, 8:30 amI should have gone with "BJ is superior, with an occasional side of spud"Billy Walker wrote: ↑September 8, 2019, 9:02 pmYou reckon BJ will be left out?Boomercm wrote: ↑September 8, 2019, 8:45 pmThat game won't have made any difference. I think BJ plays irrespective of how Cotric went on the weekend.

I think this would also be my team. Usually, I'd have Tapine starting over Sutton but I agree that for his first game back he should be running on the interchange. If Young is available then I'd switch Lui out for him - in this scenario, I'd be inclined to start Horsburgh at lock rather than Sutton. Young and Horsburgh are the least experienced and it would probably be wise to split their time on the field.zim wrote: ↑September 9, 2019, 1:26 am 1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad

Yeah, everybody talks up the Sharks whenever they win a game impressively and they've regularly failed to back it up. Tigers are garbage and I'm actually shocked they were even in contention. Panthers and Knights imploding was the only reason they stayed in finals contention.Mickey_Raider wrote: ↑September 9, 2019, 8:56 am You get the feeling that we have been relegated to being back under the radar after the events of last weekend.
Ennis talking up the sharks as a title chance after their win over the tigers, Souths back in the reckoning after their good win and Parra putting manly to the sword.
Good. We may relish the dampened expectations.
I notice that the commentators are quick to point out that a team like the Roosters or Bunnies are missing players when they have an off game but they seem to miss the fact when it's the Raiders. We'll be right back on the radar after getting another win up against the StormMickey_Raider wrote: ↑September 9, 2019, 8:56 am You get the feeling that we have been relegated to being back under the radar after the events of last weekend.
