Queensland will lift for Slater and Freddy will let the Blues sink cans all week in camp. Team bonding for 2019 he'll call it!

Can someone explain why Matt Prior has been dropped altogether? I never thought he deserved his spot in the first place, but why is no-one in the media asking this question?

It was very strange that he was dropped altogether. Maybe they have an eye on 2019 now and just want to give Sims a taste.

Who am I kidding, he probably didn't do a shoey with Freddy after Origin II so he's been outcast.

Isn’t he 20th man? So he’s still in the squad as a shadow player along with Keary.

Great to see a good representation in the junior game. Four very good young players.

I suppose Guler will be unavailable for firsts, if there was any outside chance of him making it.

I think the good Doctor is talking about the Qld No.7.

This will be a good test for NSW. Series is won. Slaters last rep game. Hostile crowd. Do the Blues have a 'foot on the throat' side like Qld have had for more than a decade or do they think the job is done for this series and show mental softness. As a long suffering Blues fan I am hoping for the former. The attitude should be that each and every game is a stand alone event. Lots to look for on Wednesday week.

Are you saying you think DCE should have been 14 with Hunt 7? Each to their own but I think Hunt is much better suited to being the utility.

If Qld wanted to stay loyal:
7. Hunt
14. Milford

If they wanted to stay blindly loyal perhaps, though you could argue they've already gone that far by giving both those blokes (and others) plenty more chances then most.

Not sure why nswelshman always thought the pick and stick stuff was about making 0 changes. As though when you're selecting a team you either make wholesale changes over the series and burn through 3 teams worth of blokes or you make none at all... Odd.

I think this is more a case of NSW fans pointing out that QLD loyalty is a myth. Just ask Thaiday, Myles, Boyd, Hunt etc

I think it's more a case that whenever qld mentioned it, it hurt a little, so they jump the gun at trying to throw it back (although funny enough more often than not it was actually nsw pointing at qld and saying why aren't we like that).

Don't get me wrong, I understand the frustration, I got the **** every time I saw a bunch of guys who had done nothing wrong get thrown under the bus (especially if it was a raider) game to game and I was cheering for the other team.

I'd like to see the Daily Telegraph throw some fuel on this one by publishing a 3-0 back page a few days before the game. Wouldn't that get the Qlders going....

No, Qld team selection is up to Lockyer and Co. I'm agreeing with the Good Doctor (they even made a TV show about him). Loyalty is easy when a side is winning. It takes a special sort of masochist to pick a side which is consistently losing and make little change. Helllllooooo Ricky ....... But the fabled 'Queensland Spirit' and 'Pick and Stick' and 'Loyalty' seems to have gone the way of the Dinosaurs.

Completely agree Red, Chambers and half the qld pack (Hess, Wallace etc) are only there because they've earnt it from such strong performances lately. Otherwise we would have made the same 6-8 changes per game we made fun of nsw for doing.

I just didn't want to admit it to myself and was hurt when the doc called us out for it, admitted as much when boney nailed me down with his "I know you are, you said you are" a few posts above.

Blues fans complain about refs... blues selectors don’t show loyalty to underperforming players... blues selectors have picked players that are grubs both on and off the field...
none of these apply to Queensland...
this is why there is so little engagement in this state of origin thread compared to yesteryear... the one sided nature of poster’s arguments grow so tiresome

Canberra Raiders forward Josh Papalii to channel Webb in Origin III

Josh Papalii will be channeling the angry maroon ghost of Carl Webb's Origin career when he starts at prop for Queensland for the first time at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night.

"I was a big fan of Carl Webb because he played that ruthless kind of footy that I really like," Papalii said. "That's the way I want to go about my business. I hope to make a real statement and go as hard as I can for as long as I can. I really want to represent the people who wore the jersey before me and to inspire the boys that come after me."

Days later and I still get a chuckle when I read this thread. Doc puts out the usual, bit of cheek, I give a little back all in good fun, boney gives me the whole I am rubber you are glue and then complains that he's tired of one sided arguments against nsw :hmmm :?

As an aside I'd really love to see Papa show that sort of aggression in a game, win or lose it would be lovely to see how he went with it. Bring it back to the club. Maybe he can vent some of his frustration with our current run on the opposition

Perhaps he shouldn't go full Carl, though.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.
