That’s hilarious if true
Could that be true?? Anyone got a link to the article?

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

I would believe more than any other club.
I would believe double that of any other club.
Triple would be stretching it.
More that all other NRL clubs combined... that has to be a stretch.

unfortunately the nature of the TPAs mean that this sort of article can't be proven/disproven. And people other than bronco's fans will want to believe its true so it gains traction

I wonder how much tpa Milford is earning. He knocked back $1.1 mill with us for $450k under the Broncos cap

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

The NRL could prove or disprove it pretty quickly.

It would be odd for Roy to make it up.

No that's just cheating.

The proposed clamp down on TPA will almost make The Thoroughbreds redundant. No longer can they simply top up a players salary so the Broncos salary cap isn't affected.

I'd like to believe that, but I simply don't believe the NRL will produce that outcome. Their management of the competition has been a complete debacle.

They'll have a way around it in the week, and the NRL will do nothing. We need to get our head around it, folks - the NRL don't WANT an equal comp. They want high capital city TV ratings on a Friday and Sunday night. So, at very least, they need a strong Brisbane and a minimum of one popular, dominant Sydney team.

We always look at this from completely the wrong perspective.

Hard to argue, but we should never give up pressing the NRL for an actual free and fair comp.

Rumours doing the rounds that the Bulldogs have to still release a player and most likely it will be Tolman.
Not that we can afford him but he would be handy.

If it's TV they want, expand the game to Perth and Adelaide. Then you have all time zones and capital cities covered, plus NZ.

Tolman is a very handy dude.
Tolman would be perfect for us.

Can produce big big minutes at prop and would provide perfect platform to break up Paulo and Boyd.

Can tackle all day long in the middle which will be handy without Hodgson there this season.

He’s been worth a shot since he debuted. Deadset the most natural five-eighth to play the game in a long time.

The NRL finally published some TPA numbers, excluding marquee and NRL sponsor deals. Top 3 are Storm (790k), Broncos (550k), and Panthers (550k) then it trails off pretty quickly to under 100k. Total is 3.7m and there is another 6m excluded for the marquee and NRL sponsors.

Definitely some rubbery figures but as you'd expect the situation has improved a lot under the new cap and since Parra got done. Marquee is also legacy I believe so that should improve.

So we may need a new excuse.

NRL talking to clubs to publish figures on TPAs

The NRL will retain third-party agreements outside the salary cap but is considering publishing the total amount each club's players earn through private sponsorship deals.

Club chief executives were last week shown a breakdown of third-party agreements, which revealed only three clubs had players whose combined earnings from private sponsorships exceeded $500,000 in 2017.
