Game of Thrones Season 7 *Spoilers*

Post by greeneyed »

Good start to the latest season. But nothing too dramatic either. Presume it's just setting the scene.

They're ahead of the books now, so they've lost all creative thought.
Next week the Harlem Globetrotters will be playing BBall with Ned Starks head in Kings Landing.

I didn't know that the books have run out. Is he writing more?

What happens when more books come out, and the TV series has gone off in the wrong direction?

He's currently writing Winds of Winter, the last book previous ended when Jon Snow died. It's set for release any month now, but keeps going backwards as he focuses on the tv show more and more.

There's supposed to be two more books, but critics are sceptical whether he'll ever release them.

There's already plenty of places where the books have diverged from the tv show, but you'd have to think major plot elements that have been revealed in the tv show (Jon Snow being arrested/a Targaryen, Cersei blowing up the high sept etc) will occur in the books and have thus been ruined

It's pretty disappointing all round

Anyone noticed that Sansa had her hair in the same style as Cersi from the earlier seasons?

Maybe she more than just admired Cersi...

"I've had enough of these Mother **** Dragons in my Mother **** Kingdom!"

And yeah, I didn't notice the hair, but she was very "Cercei would do this, Cercei would do that.." I couldn't tell if there was a thing there, or just warning Jon that the male Starks that go against her tend to wind up dead

Baby dragons.

The creators of the show know how it ends. They actually guessed the end game correctly, apparently Martin was impressed. Martin has also filled them in on the major plot points.

So while we don't get Martin's great dialogue from here, it's still mostly his story.

As for Sansa referencing Cersei and her power struggle with Jon, I wouldn't be surprised if it's all a departure from what Martin will write. I think it's just a way for the show to create tension in the north for the first 3-4 episodes.

Also, some very blatant promotional material that came out months before the season started showed Arya with Littlefinger's Valyrian dagger. I don't think she'll be headed south for long.

Sansa's storyline has probably deviated the most from any of the main characters, I'd wager, considering she never even married Ramsey Bolton in the books

Yeah I think if he ever did finish the books the ending would probably be the same but how he gets there would be greatly different

I mean Stanis is still alive in the books

So the road will be different when GRRM dies and the books get written by who ever he has engaged to finish them

Also wun wun in the night kings army sucks. It's going to hurt to see Hodor in that army

Was it Wun Wun or some random zombie giant? Wun Wun died at Winterfell so I can't see how he ended up with the walking dead. They had already made a point of burning all the dead bodies and he was the last one you wanted to see swap teams.

I read a review somewhere that claimed it was Wun Wun so the school of thought is out there. If true then its a massive goof by producers. Not quite up there with lame Ed Sheeran cameos but close.

It would surprise me though as their attention to detail has been pretty darn good to date.

I think if anything it looks a lot like wun wun but that's probably a cost cutting measure, since they can probably reuse the animations/cgi/what ever they use for Wun Wun

Isn't Stannis not dead in the books just because the books aren't up to where Stannis died yet?

The last book ends with Jon Snow dying, was Stannis dead by then in the TV Show?

No it was right around that point
So it could go exactly as the show went... or it could not. That's the point, the books could seriously diverge from the show just with that change and dominos that come with it

So is Bran Stark heading back through the wall the trigger for letting the white walkers through? The wall has "ancient spells" that prevented Benjen going though. We all remember the Night King touched Bran in one of his 'trips' and that allowed them to break the spells and enter the 3 eyed raven's cave. Reckon he's invited them into the rest of Westeros now.

My gut feel is that the final scene of this years season will be the wall coming down
