Where to from here
What can we do?
I think it's fair to say that our season is all but over.
We're a mess.
Error riddled, undisciplined, unimaginitive, embarrassing.
I firmly believe it's time to drop the players that aren't performing.
For mine, Wighton and Sezer have to go.... They're not playing up to first grade standard..... They need to regain form and earn their positions back.
The fact that we have no depth should not come into it now, the team needs major changes and now is the time to do it.

Do whatever you want the season has been over for yonks.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.
Re: Where to from here
There is no where to go
The squad is so shallow that we have no one to replace these guys with
I'd love to drop both halves, Beej and Wighton but who do you replace them with? Haha

Might as well blood under 20's like Roache and Kris and Mounties plsyers Ottio, Cullen, knight and give Hunt another go and Dakawaqa. Prep them for next season

Re: Where to from here
This season had been particularly depressing due to the anomaly that was last season. Hope were so high, and for whatever reason Ricky and the coaching staff failed to keep a lid on it for the players.
I kinda feel like the players were way too cocky during the off season reading their own press.... When they failed to automatically play with their previous form the whole team fell apart. The team is now seemingly riddled with in fighting.
This could take some time to fix.

Where is the Fijian Shark God **** , give him a run, and Turner, oh that's right he is gone
Re: Where to from here
next year will be the same.... who cares, over it.... have been for 22 years now.
Re: Where to from here
Cotric has to go to fullback. The kid is a star and we need to keep him. Fullback is his future.
Hodgson I could see going to half but Baptiste wasn't exactly brilliant today. So I don't know there. Either way the Hodgson over plays his hand meme is dead as a dodo based on how **** they played without him
Ricky needs to get his bench right. I swear to go he determines how long the forwards get by random number generator

Re: Where to from here
Rapana to fullback or sign a fullback
Wighton to centre
Sign a halfback
Stop picking Bateman and Priest
Recognise Boyd, Tapine are average and bench warmers at best
Soliola probably getting too old

Re: Where to from here
Rapana to fullback is a solid move. I was initially against it due to not wanting to break up the BJ Rapana goodness, but it's all rapana these days.
I'd move Wighton to wing or centre depending on if BJ is suspended for being BJ.
Sezer should get dropped. Literally anyone would be preferable. I honestly can't remember our last repeat set.

We could potentially be without Croker, Boyd and Leilua next gsne

Re: Where to from here
Get rid of Sezer once and for **** all; sign, develop, steal, kidnap a proper halfback - I don't care how it's done
Austin and Wighton to be put on final warning - step it up or **** off
Stern warning to BJ to cut some of the **** or **** off also
Keep Taylor in the side or get another Prop
Pretty shattered by this season tbh.

Re: Where to from here
I firmly believed Wighton should play centre a few years back. Then I changed my mind. Now I think he should be centre again. Too much of a confidence player to play fullback.
Fullbacks need to have supreme confidence. Wighton doesn't.

From here.. I'm probably off to bed...
Can't wait to see what the team will do to miss out on the 2 competition points next week....(yes I know we have a Bye)

The reality of it is that he's a very talented player but he's not a specialist anywhere.Rads1984 wrote:I firmly believed Wighton should play centre a few years back. Then I changed my mind. Now I think he should be centre again. Too much of a confidence player to play fullback.

It's Wighton of all trades, Master of none.
TBH he is probably just a really good winger and accepting thats who he is and was would have probably been the best. Instead he moved to centre, flashed but was never consistent and now the same again at fullback

His skill set suits centre the most. Definitely not fullback.Pigman wrote:The reality of it is that he's a very talented player but he's not a specialist anywhere.Rads1984 wrote:I firmly believed Wighton should play centre a few years back. Re: Where to from here
Where to from here? Good question - this squad is a shambles.
Nah, it's hard to say what the answer is. Way too many players have regressed this year, Leilua, Austin, Hodgo, Boyd, Wighton, Soliola...add the loss of Vaughan and Baptiste early on and it's not hard to understand why we are here.
Coaching is our biggest issue IMO.

Re: Where to from here
Playing hypotheticals, if we were to change fullbacks, I'm firmly in the Cotric camp. Jordy is arguably the most dangerous ball runner in the comp but Cotric is better in the air, has safer hands and I think a better footy head.
But I think all discussion is just that, as Sticky won't move Jack. We saw that last season when he was in way worse form than now.

Croker to the wing.
Dave Taylor to the 2nd row and captain.
Sammy Williams designated spiritual leader.

Soliola is the new Fensom without the penalties, totally ineffective, but full of spiritrusty83 wrote:Rapana to fullback or sign a fullback

Re: Where to from here
The season was over when we lost to the dogs! There signs have been there for a while now. The club has made bad descsions from the end of last year to now through recruitment, game day strategy, bench rotation, line ups, discipline. It has been a collective fail as a club as a whole. 2nd to bottom 4 in a season.. the fans demand answers!! I remember a press conference Ricky did maybe rnd 2 this year stating if we have that type of energy and enthusiasm we will win more games then we lose.. we'll look at us now Ricky! Peter mulholland in my opinion is as much to blame through lack of depth that wasn't identified during off season placing in a position of being stuck with halves that couldn't lead or control a under 20s game. 2018 need some major changes stop living in 2016!!!
Re: Where to from here
Good shout! I've been interested the idea of Austin at FB for a while. Best support player in the middle of the ruck when his heads right. Could suffer lapses in defence position but that's what coaches are for...right?VictorTheViking wrote:1. Austin

I don't think he was wrong. There's no way we're playing with the same energy and enthusiasm. They may be trying, but there's nothing energetic or enthusiastic about any part of their performances of late, excluding Cotric's efforts.Jordan m wrote:I remember a press conference Ricky did maybe rnd 2 this year stating if we have that type of energy and enthusiasm we will win more games then we lose.. we'll look at us now Ricky!

Do you seriously think Austin at FB would be a good idea considering his error rate? Would you not rather safe hands in the back in the form of Cotric?spotto79 wrote:Good shout! Re: Where to from here
The forwards are getting off light here. There was more than one set tonight from a jack kick return where the three quarters took the first four hit ups. One set in particular the three quarters took the first four and the cows were all over us and then boydy came in for one 20m run through the middle. It had their defence back peddling and resulted in plenty of time for sezer to get a reasonable kick away. Without that one hit up sezer was kicking from the 20m line under line speed pressure. Imagine if the preceding four hit ups were of similar calibre? He's taking that kick as an offensive kick to their goal line. The forwards need to start hunting as a pack because they look busted as a unit.

Re: Where to from here
I agree re: Cotric. However, not playing Austin at FB purely because of his error rate? Have you seen Wighton's error stats for the past 3 years? He's horrendously bad! Austin couldn't be any worse in that department5waggy_dee wrote:Do you seriously think Austin at FB would be a good idea considering his error rate? Maybe its a biased call. Austin is my current pet hate atm. Just hate his body language and his poor game reads

I'm out of ideas. I suspect we just can't have any sustained success. We just aren't that sort of club.
