Ideas

Post by reptar »

These are just off the top of my head - haven't done any feasibility research:

* Allow social media log-ins to the forum - for example, I could link my Facebook profile to my account and use that to authenticate. This has the next possibility:
* Other services - such as a website to poll for PoTY each round - if phpBB can be used as an Identity Provider, then we can have The GH log-ins allow someone to log into a site for entering their votes for automatic tallying. You could make other people's votes public so you can still have discussion.
* Social media widgets for the site - have recent activity for Facebook/Twitter accounts of The GH update through the main forum.
* phpBB codes for embedding tweets - I think these exist

I might have more ideas at another time - but happy to discuss or flesh out these concepts.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Thanks reptar, that's really helpful. Maybe we should have a chat about what can be done? PM me.

I was going to ask the other day but didn't want to start a new topic. What happened to the like button on Tapatalk? I thought that was good.

If you want help developing any new features, I've been contemplating trying my hand at some php and web stuff to learn a few more skills (and my brother does some web development atm hoping to build up his cv)... should I just send you a pm and maybe I can knock some stuff up if I ever get around to it? Wasn't sure how you'd feel about these things...

Skeepe doesn't have much time, so if I have volunteers to help update the software and do enhancements, would love to hear.

I can design spreadsheets in Excel if you need, GE??

Also pretty handy with Paint too, as you can tell by my signature banner.

Just PM me if you need use of my skills.

Now that's an idea. Home delivery greenhouse! Off to the appropriate thread!
Could we also make sure it delivers to PO Boxes?
