Canberra Raiders partner with Canberra PCYC to promote an active and connected community

Canberra Raiders and the Canberra Police Community Youth Club (Canberra PCYC) today praised a new partnership to improve outreach activities for vulnerable young people and promote positive community health at a signing at Raiders HQ.

The two-year partnership will see both organisations collaborate to extend their work in providing positive role modelling and promoting healthy relationships for disadvantaged young people in the ACT. For young offenders engaged with Canberra PCYC, the opportunity to tour the Raiders training ground and experience a home game is a chance to positively reengage with the community.

“We’re very pleased to partner with Canberra Raiders to ensure more at risk young people are provided with pathways to build a positive future and actively participate in our community,” said Canberra PCYC President David McLean today. “With our mutual focus on promoting the benefits of respectful relationships and an active lifestyle, we can now reach more people in the community.”

Canberra Raiders CEO Don Furner echoed Mr McLean’s comments and said the Raiders were proud to formally recognise the partnership between the two organisations.

“We strive to continue our standing in the Canberra and surrounding region as a leader in community involvement, and the partnership with the PCYC allows us to work with an organisation that does wonderful things for young people in the local community,” Mr Furner said. “The Raiders are excited about working with PCYC over the next two years and look forward to a successful partnership.”
