NYC Match Preview: Raiders v Bulldogs

Raiders NYC Coach Brett White has stressed the importance of defence in the lead up to his side’s clash with the Canterbury Bulldogs at Belmore Sports Ground on Monday.

“We were in it with twenty minutes to go and let it get away from us,” said White. “I know the boys are disappointed. We’ve had a look at the reasons why and tried to fix that – [there’s] a big focus on defence this weekend.

“We were able to score points, we just unfortunately let them score more than us. There was probably some poor decisions being made defensively, and we need to look at that and fix that.

MATCH REPORT: Holden Cup Canberra Raiders overcome slow start to defeat Bulldogs

The Raiders have overcome a slow start to defeat the Canterbury Bulldogs 24-18 at Belmore Sports Ground.

The Raiders made several late changes and positional shifts to the team that was named on Tuesday. Thomas Cronan returned to the side at fullback, with Tre Williams shifting to the wing and Harry Van Dartel dropping out of the team to become 18th man.

Jarred Tuite also started for the Raiders in the second row, with Jack Williams moving to the bench. Jesse Martin replaced Jayden Thomas from the team named on Tuesday.

Raiders (Dole, Cronan, T Williams, Foster. Woolford 4/4) 24 defeated the Bulldogs 18 (Tiatia, Montoya, Miller. Greene 3/3)
