Re: 2017 World Cup
Hopefully his cards are marked and we see the end of him for NSW as well.
I could really get behind a front to rotation of McLean, Campbell Gillard, Boyd , Trjboavic(sp) running out for NSW.

Campbell-Gillard called into Kangaroos squad
Penrith Panthers forward Reagan Campbell-Gillard has been called into the Kangaroos squad following the withdrawal today of Andrew Fifita.
Fifita informed Kangaroos Coach Mal Meninga today of his desire to represent Tonga at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.
"Andrew called me and said he was passionate about playing for Tonga and I respect and support that decision," Meninga said.
"It is obviously a significant boost for Tonga as well as the World Cup – and international Rugby League in general.
"At the same time it is also a great opportunity for someone like Reagan, who has been outstanding for the Panthers.
"I’m extremely excited about seeing Reagan in a Kangaroos jersey."

Mansour joins Kangaroos squad
Penrith Panthers winger Josh Mansour has been called into the Australian Kangaroos squad following the withdrawal of Darius Boyd.
At a team medical today in Sydney, Boyd was forced to withdraw from the squad due to a hamstring injury.
"Obviously it’s disappointing for Darius, who has been a fantastic player for the Kangaroos," Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga said.
"It will be wonderful to see Josh back in the Kangaroos jersey after his injury in last year’s Four Nations.
"I know how disappointed he was to be injured last year and I know how passionate he is about the green and gold.
"It is a credit to him that he has been able to return to the highest representative honours."

Re: 2017 World Cup
I actually like seeing players like Lolo and Fifita and the others playing for their country of heritage or birthplace rather than taking the bigger money offered by playing for the Kangaroos or Kiwis. Should be more of it.

Re: 2017 World Cup
I think it makes for a better World Cup.
But Fifita should have had the good manners to tell the Australian Kangaroos before they selected him in their squad. The bloke is a complete jerk... after the fuss he made about missing the Kangaroos squad... to turn his nose up in the air after already being selected... it says a lot about him.
Taumololo should also have told the New Zealand Kiwis before this week. At least it was made clear before they announced their team... but he's hardly behaved well either, refusing to take calls from the Kiwis or respond to any attempt to contact him... given he's previously indicated he'd be on board.

RLWC 2017: Andrew Fifita still has Kangaroos future: Mal Meninga
Andrew Fifita's surprise switch to Tonga for the upcoming Rugby League World Cup won't count against him in terms of future Kangaroos selection, according to Australia coach Mal Meninga.
"He's made a decision with his heart and where his family roots lie so I'm comfortable with his decision," Meninga said. "I prefer him to go play with Tonga if that's where his heart is because I know that [replacement Reagan] Campbell-Gillard's heart is in the green and gold. He won't let us down."

Agree. Should be sorted out well before now though. Make it like State of Origin where player eligibility is pre-determined. Takes out any ambiguity and players switching camps after selections.gergreg wrote:I actually like seeing players like Lolo and Fifita and the others playing for their country of heritage or birthplace rather than taking the bigger money offered by playing for the Kangaroos or Kiwis. Re: 2017 World Cup
You can sort of understand though. Fifita was snubbed last year for off field behaviour no worse than other players have gotten away with - who were selected. I can understand why he would shove their noses in it. Let's face it while ever Dugan keeps getting selected for rep sides any player not selected for bad behaviour or attitude is going to be pissed off.
Lolo and half the kiwi side dropping out, you could pin that on the ridiculous selection of the coach. Kidwell has lost the dressing room, he never had the **** dressing room. They could throw a Wiki/Soliola type of guy in is head coach and most of those blokes agree to play for the Kiwis and then use Kidwell as an assistant. Kidwell is a 'lads are hurting in there MkII' coach. Bennett was the only coach that has allowed the Kiwi side to really reach their potential in the last 20 years. Why don't they get him as coach? It's no different to some of the baffling decision making at the Warriors. When RTS and Luke went to Warriors everybody thought they would be a real premiership threat, now most have them picked for the bottom four next year. Only a few years ago the Kiwis were seriously challenging Australia as the number one league nation.
And like I said earlier another factor that may start coming up - and hoping it does - is the increase in salary across the board will hopefully allow players to make decisions on which country the play for based on birth/nationality rather than money. It will certainly help the International game.

Kidwell won't last as coach. Too many players lining up coke these days.
The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias where individuals with low ability in a specific area grossly overestimate their competence. This often occurs because they lack the knowledge or skills to accurately assess their own abilities, leading to a false sense of confidence.

Cooper Cronk brands Andrew Fifita’s Tonga defection as ‘disappointing’ and ‘poor’
AUSTRALIA halfback Cooper Cronk has branded Andrew Fifita’s decision to turn his back on the Kangaroos two days after being named in the team as “disappointing” and “poor”.
“The issue I have, you want to talk about respect and carrying yourself in a respected manner, he made the phone call an hour before the team was assembling in Sydney for the official photos and things like that.
“And from reports he put something up on social media about four days before about looking forward to the World Cup and representing Australia.

It's always been his dream...
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Re: 2017 World Cup
Yeah they're not named in positions. Kane Evans won't be at fullback and Vunivalu won't be a reserve.greeneyed wrote:This is how they’re named:julian87 wrote:Hayne must be playing halfback given the squad.

Re: 2017 World Cup
It's a shame Maurice Kennedy missed out though. A genuine halfback from NSW Cup level probably should make that squad for mine.

Jillaroos World Cup squad announced
Harvey Norman Jillaroos Coach Brad Donald has named a squad of 24 ahead of the 2017 Women’s Rugby League World Cup, commencing on Thursday 16 November in Sydney.
The squad includes 16 World Cup debutants, as well as five players who have captained Australia this year in Sam Bremner, Karina Brown, Steph Hancock, Renae Kunst and Ruan Sims.
Donald said that every Jillaroos team member this year – either playing in matches or as part of training camps – had contributed to elevating the team to its highest professional point and was confident in the abilities of the squad selected for the World Cup.
“Every member of the Jillaroos has had the opportunity to press for selection across training camps and matches this year and there is no doubt that as an extended team, we are closer than we have ever been and committed to our goal of retaining the World Cup,” Mr Donald said.
“It seems a long time since we first sat down as a group and discussed what we wanted to achieve in 2017.
“Pleasingly, we have ticked off several objectives, but retaining the World Cup remains at the top of the list.
“With the tournament being staged in our home country, we will be drawing on local support and our intention is to complete the year with a World Cup win.”
Rugby League World Cup Chief Executive Andrew Hill congratulated the Jillaroos on their success to date and wished the team well, ahead of their opening match against the Cook Islands at Southern Cross Group Stadium in Sydney.
“The Jillaroos have demonstrated a consistent level of hard-work and determination throughout 2017 and it’s exciting to see the support for not only the Jillaroos, but women’s rugby league in general as it continues to grow, with more girls and women participating,” Mr Hill said.
“I’m looking forward to a fantastic Women’s Rugby League World Cup – played for the first time concurrently with the men’s World Cup and one that will feature both the men’s and women’s final on the same stage as a double-header in Brisbane on December 2.”
Tickets to the Women’s Rugby League World Cup tournament are available from http://www.rlwc2017.com, with prices starting from $10 for triple header pool games.
Those 15 years or under and concession holders can gain entry for free to women’s pool matches.
Tickets to the doubler-header Final in Brisbane can also be purchased from the Rugby League World Cup website, with the cost of a ticket covering both the men’s and women’s matches.

Re: 2017 World Cup
is the rlwc on fox?
The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias where individuals with low ability in a specific area grossly overestimate their competence. This often occurs because they lack the knowledge or skills to accurately assess their own abilities, leading to a false sense of confidence.
