NRL considering eligibility overhaul that would allow Pacific Test stars to play Origin

THE NRL’s representative eligibility laws are facing an overhaul to allow Pacific Test stars such as Broncos duo Josh McGuire and Anthony Milford to play for Queensland and Samoa.
The Courier-Mail can reveal the NRL is considering relaxing eligibility rules to ensure NRL players do not jeopardise their Origin hopes when they turn out for second-tier nations.

One assumes the same rule will also apply to NSW.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Surely you aren't suggesting NSW selectors would even consider this?

Picking Josh McGuire? No, I don't think so.

Not sure about this. On one hand I would LOVE to see the Pacific test sides strengthened- if Oz and NZ stopped pinching their best players they could really become a force one day. Even imagine a combined Pacific side ala the British Lions tours...

But it risks furthering the joke that Origin selection has been ever since Adrian Lamb was baptised (I believe that's how it has to happen) a QLD'er...

If you are born in NSW you play for NSW if you are born in QLD you play for QLD. If you are born anywhere else BUGGER OFF.

But if these islanders want it there way, it will go back to Super League's 3 way state of origin
