Terrible news. I really like Robin Williams.
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Wow that's also sad. Depression is no laughing matter. Sad to lose such a great actor and someone you knew as well. I hope it saves one person's life though and through sadness comes something good

Yeah he was one of my favourites too. I liked him in Patch Adams but Good Will Hunting is probably my favorite Williams movie. I laughed until it hurt in Mrs Doubtfire.

The World According to Garp is an all time classic of his, as was Mork and Mindy with a lot of his lines were improvised while being that high on coke

Very sad to hear, touched the life of millions.

I liked him in his serious roles, Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society.

I'll be honest though, never found him funny. I was always embarrassed in his stand up routines that I was supposed to laugh because everyone else was. Maybe not my kind of humour and I can appreciate that.

Sorry!

Can't believe I omitted that one. Top movie. Geez I wish he would have stayed playing serious roles and thrillers.

He only fell into comedy because of happy days and from then on in was labeled as a comic actor.

People just though he was funny because he was weird and talked to fast. Making no sense, it was embarrassing. I reckon he was on crack or speed half the time.

If he stuck to the dramas he could have been the next Humphrey bogart. Not a Handsome man, however, a Charasmatic man and a superb character actor. Reached his potential.

Pàtch Adams  seriously mate, I've never been able to get half an hour into that film, without either changing channels or pulling the ac power out of the socket. It always seems to be on in motels or on interstate coach rides etc.

I must admit, I checked it out on rotten tomatoes to see if I was against the consensus agian, but even they had it at 23%.

You're movie taste buds must be well and truly wedged up you're anus mate. Rating Patch Adams as brilliant  .
