I love my kamado, I wouldn’t swap it for any other low and slow smoker on the market. The only thing easier to control temp is a pellet smoker if you want to go down the electric smoker route.

I’ve got a Pit Boss Kamado, it was low cost entry ($1000 from Costco) but it has a big 56cm internal size. KJ have a heap of sizes and accessories that cheaper modes like mine don’t have that I have never needed anyway.

But if I was to buy one now I’d get a Primo xl, there an oval shape that fits huge cuts in it and are great for dual temperature cooking like reverse searing due to the shape compared to a circle.

The 3 of us signed in at reception. The plan was to have a few beers, have a punt, bistro feed and head home. We’d eaten there before..no complaints.

MrsPJ went straight to the bathroom while my son and I went to the bar. We (son and I) we’re waiting outside the ladies when the missus came out. She hadn’t even walked into the bar/gaming area.

What I can’t get my head around is that the club is quite popular and has loyal patrons. There’s old blokes playing lawn bowls most days, it’s alwaYs busy.

They are screwing the people at $9.50 a beer. How’s a pensioner suppose to afford it ?

Waiting for Nickman to tell me that price is fine..

Yeah that’s standard these days. Went to a work do in the city in August and paid $20 for a schooner. Nearly died.

It kills me because home brewing has taught me from buying the grains, yeast etc, it’s about $1.20 for a 330ml bottle. $0.90 if I’m recycling the bottle.

So silly me thought a $9.50 beer was norm.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

9fiddy is a bit much for a bowlo ****, it's out of control, I'm having to start early hitting the cans at home before I stroll thru the doors to limit the spend, love the half cut vibe as you order your first schooey for the morning.

Beers at my local pub are probably the cheapest in Rocky for a pub and even then it's still $7.50 a schooner.

It's pretty ridiculous having ten beers and it's costing you 75 bucks. Brutal.

The issue I have with this club and their $9.50 schooner is there’s no wiggle room.

It’s not as though it’s coming down, they have set their price.

Hey, eventually none of us will be able to afford stepping into a club.

Does the Halekulani sit on their hands now for 2years waiting for $9.50 to become the norm or do they keep bumping their price up ?

One thing I did notice was the courtesy buses parked out front had “Mounties group” advertisement plastered all over them.

Back in June I had a schooner at the Fortune of War in Circular Quay..a pub where you expect the price to be higher than a club..$8.00

It really disgusted me on Saturday.
