Yeah mate it was good. Became one of the highest beers I’ve rated on Untappd. Well worth buying

Looks good mate! We were meant to have a BBQ weekend this weekend. The worst floods since last year put a hold to those plans

I’ve just got a gas smoke to add to the charcoal smoker… I know it’s cheating but damn it’s convenient. In days when I work from home, I can fire it up and even up the temp, throw x2 sets of meat in before dropping the kids to school. Come out every now and the to top off the chip and water bowl…

Lunch time and the wings are ready.

Knock off and the brisket is done.

So damn easy.

Yeah I like the Redhead charcoal. They are consistent. Even got the spreadsheet out and worked out 1 piece burns at 5*c, so working out how much I need for 120* is easy

Had a bit of a rough day today. So in October I took a 12 month secondment which was a step up into a higher role. Over the last 6 months, I’ve been working on a development plan to get myself considered for a permanent gig. Been busting my Fui’s to get noticed by the higher ups and make myself indispensable.

Found out today my secondment was not only funded by a project that was in progress, but it’s been shortened from October to 30 June.

I’m in 2 minds. On the one hand, I love my old team, and I’m excited to be back in the fold. On the other hand, I feel played, that they would lead me to think there was a chance of something more, and then do me over. Had I known there was an expiry date, I wouldn’t have applied.

That's tough Fui.
But I think it may be something behind the scenes you're unaware of. Especially with the current political climate and global instability and soaring fuel prices at home.

Hold on. You'll get your chance
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Apparently it was something behind the scenes no one was aware of! I talked to my leader about how I felt played. She’s adamant she was unaware there was a hard end date.

I’ll be right, the lesson I’ve learned is if you’re in a great team with a great leader, don’t ever leave!

Thanks Boner.

It’ll be interesting. I’ve spoken to my old leader today who I’ll be going back to. Things are good, and I’m looking forward to going back to my old team. I loved that team, and it was a really hard decision to move.

Thinking back, this secondment was a bit off from the start. But I figured it was as high as I could go without being a leader. So the plan was to wow the pants off them, turn this into a full time gig, then settle in and be done with climbing the corporate ladder. Had I known there was a proper end date, and no view to keep me on, I wouldn’t have bothered.

So the way it’s looking, I’m in this role until Easter, then I move into another team, help lay the foundations, then 1st July I’m back in my old role, and that’s ok.

Nice Boner

Todays plan for me is dinner at Cooks Shed, which I recommend if you’re ever in Sackville. The owner is the former Head Chef at Longrain. He does these theme nights, where he gets his mates at other restaurants to come in and cook signature dishes from their restaurants.

Other than that, the first Original Fui Brewie recipe is in the fridge, ready for taste testing. Hoping it’s passable at least!

Cheer lads, the Old Fashioned is a solid success. Goal or Bourbon smell without an overwhelming taste achieved. Bit of an oaky / citrus aftertaste.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
