The Dead Zone

Post by the green lantern »

Since Furner has been in charge of our Raiders it has appeared to be a consistent trend that our boys have been among the worst teams in the NRL in what is referred to as the 'Red Zone' (20m from the tryline). This is evident at both ends of the field....when we have the ball we struggle to do anything creative near the oppositions line or mount pressure by gaining repeat sets and when we are being attacked on our line we give up points far too easy.

With Furner now gone we need to find a coach who can end this worrying aspect of our game as we have some brilliant natural footballers in our side. It appears that missing quality players in key positions (7 and 9 mainly) has contributed to this but I still feel our game plan and preparation have also played a huge role.

Does anyone else feel this has been a weakness for our side that has hindered us taking the next step into Premiership contenders and, if so, how do we fix it? I go into every new season feeling confident our squad will show what it is capable of, hopefully 2014 is the year we do it.
