Carey out for 3 and now Green for 34, spinner Phillips has 5 wickets for 38 runs. The Australian 350 run lead is up. Starc 7n.o. and Cummins yet to score. Australia 8-146.

Cummins out for 8 edged behind by bowler Matt Henry. Australia 9/159 at drinks in the second session Day 3. Overall lead is 363. Here's hoping Hazlewood can build on his first innings effort.

Australia all out 164 is a poor outcome. The lead is 368.

Nathan Lyon is brought on in Australia's 6th over and takes the wicket of Latham. NZ 1-15 at Tea on Day 3.

NZ right in this at 3-111 with Revindra n.o. 56 and Mitchell n.o. 12 at Stumps on Day 3. They still need 258 but have 2 days to get them. The performance of the GOAT crucial in the result. Lyon has 2 wickets and Head 1. None of the 'gun' Australian pace line up has a wicket. 41 overs have been bowled and the new ball is a long way off.

At Stumps NZ are 3/111 (Shepp's at the local still hopping).

Mitchell can barely buy a run, 12 from 65.
Ravindra looks a class act, 56 from 94.

Kiwis need 258.
Aussies need 7.

To lose this, would be an abomination

If we had anyone decent, pushing and scoring lots of runs, might be time to give labu the pine for a bit to regain his confidence. That’s what happened in the old days, even with the great Australian teams. Mind you. We had a lot more depth back then

Imagine if we ever had Lyon and Warne in the same team.

Let’s hope he plays for a long time yet before retiring as we are going to lose quite a few more tests when he’s gone

Lyon 6-65 and NZ all out 196. Australia wins by 172 runs. Big Wood took 2 wickets for 20 off 9.4 overs and Green 1-16. Neither Starc nor Cummins took a wicket in the NZ 2nd innings.

Now on to Christchurch for the 2nd Test beginning on March 8.

How about Stokes taking a thinly veiled dig at our performance in India, we got beaten 2-1, England are morals to go down 4-1
