He wasn't picked to just land them on the pitch. He's been riding the hypometer for a couple of years now. Jumped ahead of a few in the pecking order. Needs to deliver now he's been given the chance.

And also remember in the early years of Lyon’s career he was in and out of the team probably quite unfairly. He has a better record against the Indians - who are traditionally regarded as the best players of spin - than Shane Warne.

He got dropped unfairly a couple of times but he’s generally been a constant figure since his debut.

Then got dropped for Agar in the next test in England. Another huge mistake and he took wickets again when he came back in.

He’s been consistently in the team since then. Was never really ‘in and out of the team’ besides those 2 tours in 2013.

Another comprehensive win to Australia in the 2nd ODI. Poor batting from both sides, but Abbott top scored for Australia with a career highlight 69 to build Australia's score to 9/258, he then took 3/40 off 10 overs and took a couple of catches to prove he wasn't loitering in the field. Hazlewood took 3/43 from 8 overs, Sutherland 2/28 off 8 and one each to Hardie and Zampa.

Third and Final ODI at Manuka Oval tomorrow from 2:30pm.
