Thank God I don't watch FTA TV.
Pretty much stream everything ad free.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Yeah, literally the only ads I ever see these days are halftime of the Raiders game, and I'm generally getting up for a piss during them anyway.
How on earth are people still seeing ads in 2022?

I don't watch pre game, half time break. It's annoying. Cooper Cronk tries to make every play seem like it's rocket science. Me? I'm like 'food goes in here'.
I only watch nein when I have to....SOO or the GF. And I gladly walk away from Gus, James Bracey etc

We don't even get "normal" TV at our place! We literally don't have any of the free to air channels or any way to access them.

I love HYBPA! I think it's the only FTA I watch other than the odd sporting event that's not available on Kayo (like Origin) and even then I watch it a day later through the 10 Play app, which does still have ad's though.Fuifui Bradbrad wrote:Sounds like you’re missing some great tv, like Have you been paying attention

Yeah we watch a bit of FTA. Mainly ABC. HYBPA, Mad as Hell, Hard Quiz, Tomorrow Today. As you said, even the FTA streaming services have ads in them.Sid wrote:I love HYBPA! It's winter and those annoying Canadian Club 'Who made beer the boss of Summer' ads are STILL going. They must be trying to kill NCIS ratings.

Re: Annoying ads on TV today...
There's a radio about auto parts where they rhyme the parts with an Australian place name.
My suburb (Belrose) even gets a mention.
Of the 8 or so parts mentioned, all of them are associated with a place name that rhymes, EXCEPT THE LAST ONE.
I think it's "brake pad change" in (insert non-rhyming place name).
Smeaton Grange is right there.
