Yep pretty sure I remember that
Both him and Aloiai got it at the same time didn’t they (they were training partners from memory) and that’s why the Gallen fight got called off wasn’t it?
I vaguely remember they were a bit anti vax. A stint in ICU may have changed the perspective. Have to agree with GE though I didn’t think it was that serious ie: icu and nearly dying.

Gary Belcher is playing for Raiders v Manly 1990 on NRL on Fox. Watch this highlights game for a sign of what a great fullback he was.

How Canberra Raiders grand final hero Steve Jackson beat alcohol addiction to run for Mayor of Mackay

Canberra premiership hero and Queensland prop Steve Jackson has celebrated 10 years of sobriety after admitting he was an “alcoholic.” Jackson, preparing for the 35th anniversary of his famous 1989 grand final try, credited becoming a teetotaller for allowing him to confront his greatest challenge – politics.

“I was the alcoholic where one was too many and a thousand wasn’t enough. When I started, I kept going. Admitting it is the only way to move forward – your weakness can only become strong once you identify it.

Bachelors stars Luke and Ellie - in love and planning a future together

Former Raiders player Luke Bateman has picked Ellie Rolfe in an emotional finale to The Bachelors Australia. Filming of the show finished six months ago and since then the couple have had the very difficult task of keeping their relationship under wraps. The plan now is to set up a home together near Byron Bay.

"It's been very much not allowed to be together, not allowed to tell anyone, it's a big secret," Bateman said. "We've been allowed some secret get-aways that production organised for us. But a lot of time on the phone, a lot of Facetime, a lot of crying, which was 99 per cent me."

I am never watching the bachelor again!

Out of the 3 of them Luke was the best one!
Wes should of watched the show before signing up, top tip to future Wesleys thinking of going on the show- none of the girls are going to right for your strict Virginia, Christian ways!

Ben made all footballers look like Mensa scholars!
Poor Ben just seemed confused why Wes got no girl and was sad

Luke did seem genuine, and the bromine and care he showed wes was lovely

He could expand his language and he did seem to struggle with the concept of the show which was kinda nice

The girls!! OmG! Some of them will be on love Island and other shows like that soon

Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Josh Dugan lands first head coaching role

He may have been one of the most controversial figures in the sport for much of his NRL career, but Josh Dugan will begin life as a head coach of the Ivanhoe Knights in 2024. The fullback returned to local rugby league for the Knights in 2023, playing in the Far North Queensland competition.

That responsibility of playing fullback will be joined by a head coaching role in 2024, with Dugan to act as a player-coach for the club.

Laugh now, but you just wait till Mad Monday, there wont be a more piss fit team in the league. Hear me now, believe me later but the 'hoes might win a spoon but they're gonna drink the premiers under the table.

Centre of the ring: Former Raider Joey Leilua set to return to Canberra for boxing bout

Joey Leilua is coming back to Canberra for a professional boxing bout next month. Leilua's name is plastered across posters for an Adrenalyn Fight Circuit card at the Canberra Southern Cross Club on February 17. The Samoan international [2-0] will face Kusitino Tui [0-1] - the same man beaten by Manly flyer Jason Saab during his professional debut in December.

Former Raiders forward Jeff Lynch retires. He played 12 NSW Cup games with the Raiders for Mounties in 2015 and 80 for the Burleigh Bears in Queensland Cup after leaving the Raiders.

Random podcast I came across with Blake Austin

Speaks pretty highly of his time with Canberra, was pretty honest about not wanting the club to waste their money on him when he didn't want to be there by the end.

Wighton opens up on ‘rollercoaster’ year... and reveals ‘confronting’ moment in Raiders exit

Jack Wighton has opened up on the “confronting” moment his time as a Raider came to an end.

“It was a very weird feeling,” Wighton said. “I still remember me and ‘Crokes’ (retiree Jarrod Croker) walked in and you’ve just got a black plastic bag sitting there. You chuck all your gear in there and that’s all she wrote. It was a very weird feeling, a little bit confronting, but it is what it is. I made my bed, I have to lay in it. I enjoyed every minute down there but have new adventures now.

I dunno - the bit about the club issuing departing players with black plastic bags to clear out their lockers was mildly interesting. Real prison vibes!

I actually found the article kinda interesting
Showed a lot more about Jack as a person then I think Jack meant for it to.

I think he really messed up the understanding of the business side of footy, thought Ricky was going to be happy for him and the club to hold his hand as he left the building whilst blowing bubbles for him to walk through.

He seemed a bit cut by what Ricky said but Ricky had his raiders hat on not his fatherly hat on.

And he did get a farewell at the last home game.

When I left a school I had been at for over 10yrs I did get a farewell but no black garbage bag! I had to pack all my stuff up in boxes I brought in and get it all home , and I had a lot of stuff!

Think the comment about him making his own bed and having to lay in it now shows he is very nervous ( and that never ends well for Jack on the field) and worried if he made the right choice

I wouldn’t call Croker a traitor and the article suggests he got the same black plastic bag.
