That Bottlemart ad. I thought I escaped it coming to England, and now when I watch the Fox streams over here it is on EVERY AD BREAK.

That is really unfortunate. At least it's not the old Bottlemart one with Mike Whitney holding his nose saying, "Oh, who bottlemarted?" Actually, that one was quite funny.Lahrio wrote:That Bottlemart ad. I thought I escaped it coming to England, and now when I watch the Fox streams over here it is on EVERY AD BREAK.
Re: Annoying ads on TV today...
A little off topic, but Mike Whitney has possible the worst hairpiece in showbusiness at the moment. It's like he's slowly morphing into Richard Simmons.Raiders Lime Milk wrote:That is really unfortunate. The shticky ad for sure
Re: Annoying ads on TV today...
My gambling industry contacts tell me that Tom Waterhouse has secured the Munsie-style Friday Night Footy contract for next year and beyond, so now we can look forward to wishing he is horribly trampled by those horses as he strolls across the track on that ad for the rest of eternity.

Is it just me or does Tom Waterhouse's "intricate knowledge of all thing sport and odds" make betting with him seem extremely dubious??
I mean honestly, it he's my bookie I'm betting AGAINST him, not with him!

Re: Annoying ads on TV today...
I said it in another thread, but that new KFC commercial
1. What are they advertising? KFC? Good Charlotte? Michael Slater? Lawn Bowls?
2. Why is Slats wearing a blazer with board shorts?
3. What is the connection between Slats and Good Charlotte? Are they mates? Why would they be mates with him?
That ad asks too many questions for my liking

Re: Annoying ads on TV today...
The irony of course is that at least one of the Maddens (I don't care to distinguish between them, they're both twats) is like a PETA advocate and former vegetarian/vegan of the year or something like that. Like, there's selling out, and then there's SELLING OUT. I'm just completely confused and appalled as to how they've somehow become this ubiquitous presence in Australian society now - who asked for these people, what are they even doing here? The Nickman wrote:And the Good Charlotte guys just come across to me as disgusting. Also, the worst part is that ad is filmed at Clovelly Bowling club, which is down the end of my street and otherwise the most idyllic, well-priced and generally awesome place to drink ever.

In all sincerity, I have never put a single dime into a pokie, I wouldn't even know how to play one.The Nickman wrote:I think I can see you in the background of the ad yelling at a pokie, Mick.

Well in all fairness I was going to say yelling at a TAB screen but chose to go with pokie.
I too hate pokies and never ever play them.

Re: Annoying ads on TV today...
I wouldn't even know how to lay a bet at the TAB either - I find that too depressing. Gambling is my secret shame, away from prying eyes.

I have no idea.I'm just completely confused and appalled as to how they've somehow become this ubiquitous presence in Australian society now - who asked for these people, what are they even doing here?
I've often wondered how they found such a niche in this country, or which promoter was so clever as to delude some agency that they were marketable in the first place?
Agent: "I've got 2 fat inked up muso's that once had a top 40 hit. And its not Rodman"
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Re: Annoying ads on TV today...
I mean, they're big 'stars', I get that. But why are they bowling with the Channel 9 commentary team and selling chicken? Why are they clowning around with the NRL trophy seconds before kick-off? It's like Australia somehow requested that they come over here and be absolutely everywhere for a year, as if that's what we all wanted. I don't understand why marketers seem to think that they are relevant in our lives - like its not as if they have some kind of bond or connection with Australia. It's very strange.dubby wrote:I have no idea.I'm just completely confused and appalled as to how they've somehow become this ubiquitous presence in Australian society now - who asked for these people, what are they even doing here?

Every ad. I really hate ads, I always change the channels when they're on. I hate going around to someone's house and watching tv, and the ads come on. It's like torture to me

That drink wise ad. Michael goes to the fridge, opens the beer, goes out to his mates, has a sip and asks his kid for another beer.
Maybe it's due to my pet peeve of unfinished cans, but finish 1 beer first before getting another one!
