Does that mean he gets pushed by those bowlers into his crease... BACK, and to the LEFT?

Kuhnemann out of the Sri Lanka series after his thumb injury last night. Suggestions that Corey Rocchiccioli will come in. I really don't see much sense in taking 3 off spinners. Need someone who moves it the opposite way.

He's well suited to the conditions and been a consistent performer at Shield level in recent years. Leaves a gap in the squad. If they want to have an alternative spin option then Agar might get the nod. His batting would allow them to play the extra spinner without extending the tail.

I'm hoping he can still go as it's his non-bowling hand but fielding/batting will be an issue. I haven't seen CA release a statement yet. Agree with you on the team balance and Agar. He would be my preferred choice over another off spinner or Swepson and Tanveer Sangha. Connolly's bowling isn't good enough at Test or Shield level, although Steve Smith pushed for his inclusion on the tour due to his bowling.

There’s no obvious replacement. And it’s a shame I reckon Kuhnemann would have been locked into the 11. I’d say we will just see Connolly used as an all rounder now no matter who is drafted into the squad.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Australia hit 308 from their 50 overs. Ash Gardner top scored with 102 from the same number of balls faced. Lady Poms losing early wickets in reply. The wicket is good though so they have opportunity.

Selectors have been given the perfect excuse to pick Connolly in the starting 11 even though he hasn't earned the spot. Bailey will do whatever Steve Smith wants him to do. That the role of the head of selectors these days.

Ok. Here’s a laugh.
A panel of 41 cricket commentators, former players and cricket journalists have selected the wisdom cricket test side of the year for 2024.

And not an AUS player anywhere to be seen.

Cummins and Head missed out, **** ?????

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal IND
2. Ben Duckett ENG
3. Kane Williamson NZ
4. Joe Root ENG
5. Harry Brook ENG
6. Kamindu Mendis SRI
7. Jamie Smith (wk) ENG
8. Ravindran Jadeja IND
9. Gus Atkinson ENG
10. Matt Henry NZ
11. Jasprit Bumrah

So, I don’t watch any test cricket that doesn’t involve AUS and may only catch up on the form of other players from highlights. I’d like to think that this 11 are all somewhat worthy of selection and they had a fantastic 2024.

But clearly, there’s 41 peeps tak’n the pierce here.

Personal opinion obviously comes into the selection criteria above BUT...

ICC rankings certainly suggest at least 1 Aussie should make it. Cummins is the #2 bowler, and Lyon is the best genuine spinner. Head is the 5th bat, but with openers required and likely an allrounder at 6 or 7 with a keeper, I can see how he misses out.

ICC rankings as follows:
Top 10 Bats:
1. Root ENG
2. Brook ENG
3. Williamson NZ
4. Jaiswal IND
5. *HEAD AUS*
6. Bavuma SAF
7. Mendis SL
8. *SMITH AUS*
9. Pant IND
10. Mitchell NZ

Top 10 Bowlers:
1. Bumrah IND
2. *CUMMINS AUS*
3. Rabada SAF
4. *HAZELWOOD AUS*
5. Jansen SAF
6. Henry NZ
7. *LYON AUS*
8. Jayasuriya SL
9. Jadeja IND
=9. *BOLAND AUS*

Top 10 All-rounders
1. Jadeja IND
2. Jansen SAF
3. Hasan BAN
4. *CUMMINS AUS*
5. Al Hasan BAN
6. Holder WI
7. Root ENG
8. Atkinson ENG
9. Stokes ENG
10. Woakes ENG

In 2024 Cummins took 37 wicket @ 24. He also made 306 runs and could be now in the conversation as an all rounder.

In April 2024..just 9 months ago he was named Wisdens leading cricketer in the world.
