NR you haven’t covered yourself in glory in your takes on this issue over the journey. I’m pretty sure there is an early claim that the club would swiftly resolve this issue. There is definitely a post from you suggesting I was being fanciful to think CHN would sit on our list for two years without playing. A opinion on an issue that differs from your own isn’t trolling. Particularly when that opinion is proven to be correct.

Warriors captain Tohu Harris has retired on the eve of the 2025 season: https://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/warri ... 0bf95d4962

Its simple. Harris knows he cant play anymore
CHN thinks he can get back to playing.

If that is all it is, you would think the club could bridge the gap in his thinking and help him arrive at a different conclusion.

I guess the Warriors were just lucky it panned out like that for them. Man, other clubs seem to get all the luck on these things hey…. :doubt:

New Zealand Warriors captain Tohu Harris announces immediate retirement from NRL

Tohu Harris has announced his immediate retirement from the game after conceding he was “dealing with pain in every day life”. Harris has struggled to make his return from a debilitating chronic wrist injury, impacted Harris for most of last year. He had an operation to repair the damage, but the injury has not healed as well as he would have liked.

“I’m dealing with pain in everyday life as well as footy,” Harris said. “My body has been feeling good in training but the reality is I can’t perform as a player with this injury.

Seems straightforward and the decision of the player.

Irrelevant to the CHN situation.

Haha, the troll is sucking you all in again.

Harris retirement has nothing to do with CHN. He only posted it here to troll because that's his mentality.

While I'm a new poster here, I get the impression that Billy Walker is viewed in the same way Jack Dougherty is? ( no offence to Billy)

None taken Kitchen - not much offends me. Not sure who Jack Dougherty is, but if he has dashing good looks and a chiseled rig there may be some similarities

Jack Dougherty is the most hated figure on YouTube due to his antics and desire for attention.

Yeah certainly some folks that get a bit precious when the chamber doesn’t echo like they wish. I find it hilarious how threatened some people feel when someone puts forward an opinion that doesn’t align with their own. It is a nice endorsement when some posters can’t fault my logic and position and turn to name calling.

Name calling is not conducive to healthy conversation. Unfortunately, there are many people who for whatever reason resort to it, made easier on an online platform.

I prefer engaging with people who I find have a quality insight and knowledge of the game. I might actually learn something!

So far I've had a positive experience on the GH. People genuinely seem to love the Raiders, and at times a difference of opinion can get escalated. But there's no reason to behave aggressively.

Couldn’t agree more KS! I’m not slightly fussed if people don’t agree with all or any of my views and I’m not threatened by opinions that differ from mine. It’s what makes the discussion interesting. Where I’ve observed it goes bad is where people let emotions rule logic. The emotion is generally tied to favourite player, least favourite player or even the club itself. It manifests into definitive positions of he can do no wrong, he is always terrible and the club is always right. I like to test those views and it ruffles feathers. This thread is a good example. If you go back to the start I suggested two years ago that the club wouldn’t handle the CHN injury well. I was shouted down and told it would be handled swiftly and appropriately. Some drew strawman arguments trying to suggest I want to see CHN done over of the club breach salary cap rules. Neither was the case. But this many years later we head into another season with a 29 man squad and ~$700k sidelined because as I predicted the club hasn’t resolved this well. But apparently when you make a point like that and history proves you correct that is trolling… :roflmao

I can't speak for the management of CHN. I haven't paid close enough attention. I'd like to believe his holistic health is the priority of the club and himself and appropriate measures have been implemented

100% - the club has stood him down from playing, training and anything else that could harm him prompting media that suggested his playing days are over. I think that is an appropriate level of care. It’s just frustrating the club hasn’t been able to negotiate or incentivise an outcome where that position is accepted, the player is paid out and the club gets to use its full salary cap and squad numbers. I feel like other clubs seem to be able to better negotiate medical retirements with players and the NRL, but we seem ok with this drawn out situation that is really hurting the club’s chances of success.

The club doesn't get to use it's full salary cap if the player is paid out in this situation. The player is entitled to his full contract. Any pay out is counted to the salary cap. There is no magic pudding solution.

So you’re totally comfortable with how the CHN situation has played out? You believe the club and player have handled as well as possible?
